The warm night air caresses my face,
Whispering that it's all going to be alright.
The trees are swaying to the cricket's song.
A sad, sad melody in honor of my despair.

The fireflies flash, lighting the way to a brighter horizon.
My horizon has shattered and buried itself within the earth.
The stars will not reveal where they are hidden.

The insects crawl over my bare legs but I take no notice.
Nothing can disrupt my sorrow.
The rain blankets me and disguises my tears.
Still, it does nothing to stop the steady flow of hurt.

The rain is falling,
The wind is whispering,
The crickets are singing,
The trees are swaying.
And I am here, in the middle of it all
Surrounded by thoughts of you
