Chapter 16: My Bad Luck
------
Mei stood at the front door of the rather huge house, a look of shock, and deadly fear showing on her face. She had literally gone pale white at the sight of the familiar darkened figure standing in front of her. She couldn't believe her very eyes, right at that very moment she wanted to kill herself. Nooo, this can't be, this has to be a nightmare, just a dream, oh god please tell me this isn't happening. Pleaded Mei in her thoughts, as her lips trembled, her eyes stinging….just itching to shed unwanted tears….her very fears eating her insides….her stomach was tightening…she had stopped breathing just to make herself wake up…but it wasn't a dream.
The oh so familiar figure stepped out from the shadows. Mei could see the smirk plastered on his face…. She still couldn't get over the fact that she was related to him!
"Well, well, well…." Spoke the boy in his oh so manly voice….as he stepped aside to let her in, his eyes staring at Mei intently….as she hesitated to step inside the place she would have to call home, but for now hell would do.
"Ah Mei, my dear daughter, it has truly been a while…" spoke a dark haired female, as she walked up towards Mei, smothering her with several kisses and hugs. Mei supposed this was her biological mother. "Dear, you should come inside, you'll catch a cold if you stand outside all day." Spoke the woman again, as she led Mei towards the living room of the house.
The house was rather plain in Mei's opinion, but what made it rather interesting were all the Chinese porcelain vases, that were rather huge….. They were a little over half as tall as Mei. But Mei couldn't think of that right now…. She had to find a way to get out of this nightmare… sure her mother seemed nice….. but what scared her the most was her…what would she call it…her brother??? Just then the familiar boy walked into the living room, the smirk still plastered on his face, as if mentally telling her, I'm going to enjoy this.
Mei shook her head, as she tore her gaze away from him, looking back at the vases, as if she had just realized they were there. But before Mei could go back to her quiet thinking, her new mother had snapped her out of her thoughts.
"Eric dear, why don't you show your sister around the house? I'm sure she would like to know where her room is as well." Spoke her mother, as she nodded in the familiar boys direction.
"Of course, I would love to show Mei around." Replied Eric deviously…. his smirk getting bigger and bigger…as he smirked mockingly at Mei.
Mei could only stand and stare in shock, as Eric walked towards her, latching onto her arm…. as he dragged her away from the living room, away from her mother, away from safety. Towards the darkened hallways of the house….

Dammit where'd Mei go now? I don't even know where she lives now! Fuck this, if I have to break into her dad's lawyer's office just to find out then I will. Thought Damian frustrated, as he slammed his fist on the study desk in the library of his house. He was surrounded with millions of bookshelves, all stacked up high filled with books. But he wasn't there because of that, he was there because of the silence that the library offered, it gave him enough time to concentrate. As he gripped his hair with both hands, prepared to pull them out in frustration. He had been sitting there thinking of where she could possibly be when he heard a grunt.
"Little brother, why don't you just ask Brian? I mean he was her brother before she was taken away, so he should know." Spoke Clarice worriedly, Damian had been sitting in the library all day, and that wasn't normal.
"Clare, have you forgotten how Brian and I hate each other?!" Damian yelled aloud in frustration, as he stood up from the chair slamming his fist on the table to show his frustration.
"Don't be stupid, do you even know why you guys hate each other? Look either you drag your ass over to Brian's house so he can show you, or I'll drag it for you!" she exclaimed, also getting frustrated, Brian and Damian had been best friends up until high school, when the subject of girls had set a rift between them. But that argument was long gone, and forgotten. So she saw no point in them avoiding each other until they were old and brittle.
"Fine! Geez, why are women so demanding…" grunted Damian as he walked off, climbing up the stairs towards the door. Clarice just stood there shaking her head at her younger brother, men; they can be so stubborn sometimes.

"So you say she's here?" questioned Damian, as he and Brian walked up the steps towards a house which on the door hung a little plaque, reading out, The Yang's.
"Positive, what you don't trust me?" exclaimed Brian defending himself.
"Sorta hard to after all the pranks you played on me during high school." Countered Damian, if they don't stop arguing soon they'll get nowhere and he won't be able to see Mei.
"I was getting back at you for –." Spoke Brian but was cut off.
"Can I help you boys?" said rather short, and dark haired Chinese looking woman.
"Uh…oh ya we're looking for a Mei, her last name used to be Shijouko?" responded Brian, caught off guard by the woman.
"Oh, and whom might you two be?" she spoke.
"Umm I'm Brian, I was Mei's step brother for a while, and this is umm my friend Damian, we just wanted to see how she was." Brian responded again, feeling rather uncomfortable under the woman's glare.
"Please come in, I'll go get her." Responded Mrs. Yang, being more polite now that she knew they weren't some kind of stalker.

"Leave me alone! Dammit!!!" cried Mei, as Eric lunged at her.
"Oh but my pretty pet, this is only the beginning.." He replied slyly.
"Shut up! I'm not your pet. When Damien, Brian or Josh find out what you're trying to do to me they'll kill you!!!" she exclaimed jumping out of Eric's way.
"Oh but you live in the same house as me now, darling sister of mine." He replied just as sly as last time.
Mei was trapped in her so-called "room", Eric had cornered her just as she entered he shut the door behind him. Now she was trapped in the darkness for the windows were covered with blinds and curtains. Cautiously listening for Eric's steps, since she couldn't quite see him, and the light switch was most likely too far away.
*Knock, knock*
"Who is it…?" stuttered Mei, while sighing heavily, relieved, thankful for whoever was on the other side of the door.
"Mei you have some guests, one of them was your step brother?" replied Mrs. Yang on the other side.
"Okay, I'm coming." Spoke Mei, as she headed towards the door, she knew Eric wouldn't dare try something while Mrs. Yang was there. She opened the door and emerged in the brightly lit hallway. She was happy to get out of the darkness. Mei walked down the stairs, getting farther and farther away from Eric.

"Brian!!! Damian!!!" cried Mei ecstatically as she pulled her Brian and Damian in a tight hug. "I'm so happy to see you guys."
"Uh….you just saw me this morning…" replied Brian.
"But I didn't see Damian …" spoke Mei, her voice trailing off as she looked up at Damian.
Damian stepped forward, and wrapped his arms around Mei. "Hey you."
Brian turned away with a disgusted look on his face, as he looked out the window.

"So it's all set then? We'll go out for lunch this Friday?" said Damian.
"It'll just be you two cuz I… have to work that day." Lied Brian, he didn't want to stick around to see their love fest on Friday.
"Aww, that's too bad." Whined Mei; although she was glad she'd get to be with Damian atlas. But feared what would happen when they leave.
After discussing their lunch plans further, Damian and Brian rose up to leave. Leaving Mei, once again, alone, in this messed up world.
She quickly went up to her room, turned on the lights, made sure the coast was clear, and locked the door. There were no signs of Eric for now, thankfully. As she sat on her bed, not paying any attention to anything. Tears slowly fell down her cheek; she was alone, yet again. She had lost her father, who turned out not to be her real father, and sure she had Damian and Brian. But Damian never seemed to be there when she truly needed him the most, when her heart cried out in pain, but no one was around to hear it. She had always buried her feelings deep inside her, away from reach of everyone else. Although Brian seemed to be able to read her like a book, and Karen. She couldn't stop remembering, the drastic measures Sarah took to make her life horrible…as well as Kate. Life seemed to hate her very existence. What if………
