Sarah McCarthy sat on the worn out bench beside the large fountain in the
school yard. Beside her, Jennifer Morgan, her best friend was trying
lovingly to please her boyfriend with her kisses and touches and quiet
dirty talk. Jason Morrison had always been the kind of guy to date a girl
who did wild things like that in public, which is exactly why they had been
going out for a full two months now. Two months is like a record when
you're 17 years old and in Cathedral High School. Most couples don't even
last two weeks.
Many people at the school thought their public displays of affection were sick. Many people thought that whole group themselves were sick. The people who thought that were all apart of different cliques. Sarah and her friends were all in the popular clique. It was also mixed with the ginos. The popular clique and the ginos were the people who were rich, beautiful, and snobby.
The ones who hated them were the punks, the goths, the grubs, the preps (a.k.a. the rich french emersion kids), the gangsters, the wangsters, and of course the kids who stay in the cafeteria all day trading Pokemon cards. They were at the bottom of the social food chain and the main target at school. No matter how much all the clique hated each other, they all had one common interest, and that was making fun of the pokemon kids.
Sarah sat there thinking how nice it was nice to be at the top of the food chain, but she also thought that there was something more out there for her. Her thoughts were interrupted as soon as her boyfriend came in. Antonio Romano was almost like the leader of the popular clique, at least he liked to think of himself as the leader. He already knew he was the best looking, or at least that's what he thought. He was six feet tall, had long chestnut brown hair and deep brown eyes. He was also built. Antonio worked out every single day and drank all those protein shakes advertised in infomercials. He had big muscles, but they could never be as big as his ego.
"Hey, Babe, did you miss me?" He asked with a stuck-up grin. "Of course I did, Antonio, I never stopped thinking about you. I was so sad," Sarah lied. The truth was, she felt much better when she wasn't thinking about her boyfriend. She wasn't happy, but she felt much better. Sarah felt absolutely no connection to Antonio. He was way more in love with himself that he would ever be with her, he was loud, vulgar and intolerable, and he really wasn't as good looking as he'd like to believe.
If she could have, Sarah would have dumped him in a heart beat to be with someone else. Someone who challenged her. Someone who had ambition, intelligence, kindness, talent. She wanted someone who wasn't so hung up on looks or money. Sarah knew that she was being kind of a hypocrite. She was hung up on those things too. That's why she stayed with Antonio. Purely for her image. Sarah always knew that she was different from the rest of the kids in her clique, but she wanted to stay with them. It was better, to her, than being one of the punks or goths are any other clique. She was different from the others, but she was almost just as shallow.
"Man, you should have seen me today. I was on fire. I really gave my abs a workout. Go on and feel 'em" Sarah shook her head, telling him that she didn't want to. Antonio just shrugged and continued with his story. He would do this to her all the time. Everyday, he would bore her with his tales from the gym and his abs, and everyday Sarah would try to tune him out. Whenever she tried to tune him out, she would always fail miserably.until today.
While Antonio was talking Sarah's ears off, her eyes began to wander around the school yard. They passed by all of the cliques. First, they went past the wangsters, and then her eyes made a left at the goths. Behind the goths, were the grubs, the group that never heard of personal hygiene, or at least they dressed so it looked that way. None of these people even interested her a bit. No on was ever the least bit interesting to Sarah.until her eyes stopped. It wasn't just her eyes that stopped, really, it was the whole world, or at least that's the way it seemed to her. Sarah's eyes met with the eyes of the most stunning girl she had ever seen. Was she a goth? A punk? A grub? What was she? She definitely didn't fit into the popular category, but this girl didn't look like she gave a damn. She had this look to her that intrigued Sarah. It made her want to go up there and talk to her.among other things. This girl made her tremble.
Sarah was straight, as far as she knew. She never really though about being anything other than what would make her popular. If it wasn't in her teen magazines, she really didn't go for it. She broke eye contact with the girl as soon as Antonio started tapping her on the shoulder. "Earth to Sarah, are you listening? And why are you trembling?" he asked. Sarah's body jerked. She felt empty. Antonio was an alarm clock that had just ripped her away from a dream. The world started to move again, and so did his lips. The girl mysterious girl was gone and that made Sarah miserable. When will I see her again? She asked herself in her head. Was that the last time I will ever see her? Was that the end? Now way this was the end. For Sarah and this mystery girl, this was only the beginning!
A/N: So what do you think? Is it too corny? Please People, I need reviews. I will try and post more soon. Unlike my other story, I'm not too sure where this is going. I have a slight idea, but nothing big. I hope you all like it though.
