Who he is

and why he follows me

does not matter.

He paces

my footprints as I walk

past the night

beneath the day.

He strolls beside me through these troubled times-

Wondering near me as these years pass from childhood

to now.

He is unashamed

as his eyes met mine

hands outstretched

fingers of aching beauty.

He likes this duty of his

this hand to mouth existence

that I love to live under

and he

to catch me as I fall.

He says that I am everything

but I am nothing

but the girl

beside him.
