Mia raced all around the house, putting the finishing touches on her outfit. Amanda just sat on her bed laughing at Mia's nervousness.

"Mia, calm down it will be fine," she said as she got up and tried to follow her.

"I know," she stopped, causing Amanda to run into her. "Sorry, I just can't stop being nervous. And I miss Davey.

"Oh come on, he broke your heart and he's just being stupid. Don't fall for it. It's not worth it," she said as she put her arms around her in a big hug. "Listen to me. There are only this date and two more after that for you to deal with before you can call him if you would like."

"That's three dates!"

"Alright would you like me to cut it down to two? This one, and then one next Friday night. That shouldn't be too bad. Besides, I still have another date set up for you. I didn't have a fourth anyway."

"Yeah, that sounds good to me. I think that would be better," she sobbed.

"Ok so go clean up your make up, 'cause you don't want to be late!"

"Hi, I'm Mia."

"Frank. Shall we go?"

He walked her to his nice black SUV. As she got in, she realized he must have money. Everything was very high tech.

Later at dinner at a fancy place, the ice was finally broken. Both realized they both really like ice cream. They talked about all sorts of flavors and cones. Eventually the conversation turned to funny stories about birthdays, and then to just funny stories in general. They didn't stop talking until they were on the way home.

After a few minutes of silence Mia remembered, "Oh man I forgot to call Pete before I left. Oh well I'll have to call him when I get home I guess."

"Who's Pete?" Frank said with a little accusation heard in his tone.

"Just a really good friend of mine."

"You have a really good friend that's a guy?"

"Yeah, I hang out with him all the time; he's one of my best friends."

"I see," he gritted through his teeth.

"What? Is that a problem?"

"Oh no, I just think it's interesting. You have a best friend that's a guy, that you hang out with all the time, and you wonder why you got dumped," he said pulling into her driveway.

"Oh my gosh, he's my best friend. You know, I thought you were a great guy, but if you can't even deal with the fact that I have a best friend that is a guy, then you have some problems!" she yelled at him as she got out of the car.

"Fine! Shut the door! I'm out of here!" he screamed at her.

She just stood in amazement as he pulled out of her driveway. Walking up to the door, she thought of Pete, and how she kind of missed him. She decided to go ahead and call him, since she forgot to before.

"Hey Pete."

"Hey Mia, how did it go?"

"Well it was great, until you came up. He didn't really like the fact that my best friend is a guy."

He smiled, "Oh really?"

"Yeah but oh well, only one more date, and then this is all over."

"One more? I thought you still had two more," he said trying not to sound worried, though he was.

"No. Amanda and I decided we would push it down to just three total. So just one more."

"Oh, well that's good I guess."

"Yeah. Oh Amanda just got home. Hey, I'll talk to you later okay? We will do something this week."

"Ok, sure."

"Ok stay sweet. Bye."

He hung up the phone and just stood there thinking. Then he had an idea, but he had to wait until Amanda was alone to talk to her.
