Seemingly a Rainbow Halo
"Hello children," said an old man in the library. "I've been told to tell you a story. Would you like that?" We all nodded our heads slightly confused. "Oh! How wonderful!" he continued. "My name is Mr. Sanders. The story I'm going to tell you today is about-" Billy raised his hand. "Yes child stand up and tell me your name." Billy slowly stood up, and addressed Mr. Sanders. "My name is Billy sir. Billy Morris." "What is your question Mr. Morris?" asked Mr. sanders "What happened to Mrs. Quinn? Why isn't she here? Is she with the government? And is there a conspiracy to get us to read more? Or to get us kids to quit coming to the library and making so much noise? I mean if it is then I'm gunna leave!" I took hold of Billy's wrist and told him to hush. "*Billy. Be nice!! Your mother gave me full permission to hit you!!!*" Billy then sat back down. For as long as I can remember Billy has been afraid of my fist. "Please Mr. Sanders!! Continue!!" I said as sweetly and politely as I could while successfully keeping Billy from bolting out of the library doors. "Well...uh...As I was saying before Mr. Morris asked a very legitimate question to which I don't have a answer to, I said...um...Oh! Yes! The story I'm going to tell you today is about a young girl who must overcome certain obstacles to achieve her birthright."

There was a country far away a while back named Chisoré (Chih- soray). It was a beautiful country, full of beautiful animals, insects, rivers, streams, lakes, mountains, hills, hillocks, and the widest plains ever to accommodate them all. This country also supported a very rich and powerful royal family. The family had a little girl named Lyon (Lee-own). When she was born she was destined to become Queen of Chisoré, but the laws state that only the firstborn male is allowed to become heir (and then of course king). So for years Lyon's mother, Miaka (Mee-ah-kah), and father, Sobi (So-bee), tried to produce a son. Only to fail miserably. So miserably in fact that Miaka died shortly after giving birth to her fifth child. By this time Lyon was 10. Lyon was of course the oldest (10), next was Rison ((Ree-sohn)(9)), then Migalia ((Mih-gail-ee-uh)(6)), Miaka (3), and then the fifth girl (age two) was given the Chisorian word for death as a name; Morniya (More-nee-yah). Sobi being so angry with the whole lot of them for being girls forced them to decide which one of them would bend to his will and become a boy. Lyon and Rison both involuntarily volunteered. For the next ten years Sobi instructed the girls on how to be boys.
One day when Migalia, Miaka, and Morniya were reading "The Holy Text" Lyon and Rison were out horseback riding. They had been riding for a while and came to a clearing. Out of nowhere two young ladies galloped into the clearing. When they stopped near Lyon and Rison they (the ladies) checked them out. The women almost fell off of their horses. One lady was wearing a white gown and the other, seemingly older, was wearing a black gown. The lady in the black gown spoke first, "Pray tell gentlemen what are thy names?" Lyon being the oldest spoke for both, "I am Lyon Crown Prince of Chisoré; age 20 and this is my si-brother Rison also Crown Prince of Chisoré; age 19. I am the heir to our father's throne." The woman in the white gown spoke next, "So, here are the two princes of Chisoré. They would look really cute in portraits next to us wouldn't they?" "Oh yeah sure!!" agreed the lady in the black gown. "Ummmm.........may I inquire as to whom we just introduced our selves to?" "Oh how rude of me!!!" said the woman in the black. "I am Nesscite (Neh- seet) and this my kid sister Trika (Tree- kah). I am 17 and she is 15." Rison decided it was time to speak. " Where are you ladies from?" Trika giggled, "We are from Lotoma, across the Sea of Chirion." Nesscite also laughed. "Our father wants to marry us off and I quote 'You two are going to marry the princes of Chisoré whether you like it or not.'" "Heheh." Lyon and Rison half laughed they started to hope that these girls would fall off a cliff and perish. 'What if their father succeeds in getting our father to let us marry? What will we do?' To get their minds off of the near possible they decided to get rid of these parasites that call themselves human. "Well," said Lyon, "we must be going now." She elbowed Rison in the ribs. "Yes, yes. Lovely meeting you two ladies, must be off." "Lots of hunting to do!" they both said in unison. "Oh!!! We'll go too!!" chimed both girls. "NO!!! It is not a sport for a woman!!!" said Rison. "So?...It is in Lotoma!!!!" questioned Nesscite. "Well...THIS ISN'T LOTOMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" shouted Lyon. "*you know Nesscite...he has a point. I mean what if it is illegal for women to hunt!!! We could be like, arrested!!!!!!!*" Trika advised that they ride to the castle and leave the "men" to hunt.

All of the children were buzzing as Mr. Sanders finished. "Is that it?" whined Tomy Mitch Mulligan. "Aha, no sir. That is not it. That is barely even the beginning. You all must come back tomorrow to hear more!!!" As all of the kids left the library to go back to their homes, Billy and I stayed. I stayed to ask Mr. Sanders a question. Billy stayed because his mom told him to stay with me. "Mr. Sanders, sir. Did you make that story up?" "Oh no, child, no I did not. That story is true hard non-fiction. Tell me what is your name?" "My name is Christel Abbey Tucker, but all of the kids in town call me Chris." I put out my hand and he shook it gently. "Well then Chris, I hope you will keep coming and hearing this story. It'll get pretty interesting." He winked at me, put his hat and coat on and left the library. Billy said after Mr. Sanders left that he didn't believe a word of that story. I did, and I know for a fact that Billy did to. He was just that kinda kid.
