If Rocks Could Talk

If only the rocks that we find
Could have a voice and speak.
They could tell us of
The people they've seen.
Things that pass by
And the places they've been.
If only a rock
Could have lips and talk
We could learn so many things.
We'd hear of oceans and rivers
Dinosaurs and cavemen
And maybe even witches and stuff!
They could tell us of
The secrets of the world.
And I promise I'd never tell!
If only the rocks
Could have a mouth and talk
I'd listen all night and day.
I'm sure they'd have
So much to say.
But, alas,
A rock is a rock.
