Claimer: The song used in this chapter is mine. ALL MINE!

It was late at night. The band decided to celebrate the news of their gig by going to the place they would be playing on Saturday night. Jax Night Club was one of the best hangouts in the town of Stratford. Teens came there to dance and play. They normally had some pretty brutal bands, but every once in a while, somebody came along and blew away the others.

"Who do they have playing tonight?" Jaden asked.

"Um, the poster said that there'd be some chick named Piper Hyde. She plays, like, the piano or somethin'." Charlie replied.

"You have got to be the least articulate person I've ever met!" said Toby.

"It aint my bad my mama didn't learn me how to spoke unglish good!" Charlie joked. "Besides, I'd rather speak like this that like some flamboyant sissy boy," she laughed.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Toby asked. "I don't talk like that!" He was pretty offended. Toby had always been a little bit on the girly side, but he always hated it when people would think he's gay because of it. He's a straight boy. That's what he would keep telling himself whenever he would get those "unnatural urges". Toby would always get those when he looked at Ryan Cutter, a boy from his school, but he would quickly repress them.

"Chill, Toby. I didn't mean anything buy it." Charlie assured him. The band took a seat at the front where they would be closest to the music. The show was going to start in a minute.

"Hey, guys?" Charlie started.

"What?" they answered.

"Do you ever think that we're missing something?" she continued.

"Missing something? What are you talking about?" asked Keegan.

"I'm saying, haven't you ever though what our band would be like with another member in it? I mean, there are only four members. Most popular bands have five members."

"So?" asked Jaden. "We're not most bands. I think were fine with just the four of us"

"Jaden's right! We should stay just the way we are!" Toby said. Keegan backed them up by nodding his head.

The lights in the room dimmed. The show was starting. A girl walked onto the stage. She had long chestnut brown hair that was in twists and emerald green eyes. She was wearing a light blue shirt with maroon three quarter sleeves, and baggy black pants.

"Hey! How are you all doing tonight?" she asked the audience. They all started to scream as if that were an answer. "I'm Piper Hyde. I'm 17 and performing is my dream. This song that I'm about to sing, it's called 'Dust'. Piper took a seat at her piano.

"This looks like it's going to be stupid!" said Jaden.

"Shh! I want to hear this!" said Charlie. Her friend shot her a dirty look for shushing her.

Slow music started to play. It's was a bit depressing, but very nice. When piper began to sing, Charlie was stunned. Everybody was, including Jaden, though she wouldn't like to admit it. This girl had a beautiful voice that could fit in with any kind of music. She never missed a note when she sang:

"I'm just a tiny

Spec of dust

I'm trapped and caught up

In your gust

You're a beautiful wind

You blow me away

With the things that you do

And the things that you say"

"Man, she can really sing!" said Charlie.

"I know. I don't think I've ever heard a voice like that in my life," Keegan said.

The song continued for a while and when it was over, Piper received a standing ovation initiated by Charlie. The audience waited for the next band to get on stage once Piper left.

"You guys, I have to go do something," said Charlie. She got out of her seat and left her friends sitting there. At the bar towards the back of the club, Charlie saw Piper getting a drink. She was surrounded buy a bunch of people that loved her performance, and was signing autographs.

"Piper!" Charlie called. The girl looked up to see who it was. She didn't recognize her, but then again, she didn't recognize anybody around her. Once she had signed the last piece of paper, she made her way over to Charlie.

"What, do you want an autograph too?" she asked.

"No. I just wanted to say hi to you." Charlie answered.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah! I heard you sing and I think you have the most amazing voice in the world. You totally kicked ass out there."

"Thanks!" Piper said as she started to blush. "Can I buy you a beer?" she asked.

"But we're only 17. . ."

"Chill, girl. I got connections." She turned to the boy working at the bar. "Hey bro, get my friend . . ."

"Charlie."

". . .Charlie, a beer!" ordered Piper.

"Sweet, you're brother is works here? You must get hammered, like, every night!"

"Nah, only when I party with cuties," Piper said as she moved a little closer to her new friend. "Charlie, eh? I love that name!"

"It's short for Charlotte," she said.

"Well, I love that name too." Piper smiled at her.

"I love your name too!" said Charlie.

Piper's brother handed her a beer to give to her.

"Thanks Sean," she said before handing it over. Charlie struggled a little bit trying to open the bottle.

"Aw, that is so cute! Here, let me get that for you!" Piper took the bottle back from her. She twisted the lid off very easily and gave it back to her. Just then, Charlie's friends came over.

"Hey, Charles, we thought that you left us or something," said Jaden.

"What? No, no. I was just having a drink with Piper. Wasn't she awesome tonight?"

"Yeah, Piper. You did amazing. I know I said that we should stay the way we are, but man, I would love to have you in our band," said Toby.

"Oh, you guys have a band? What's it called?" Piper asked.

"We're 'Coas' it represents the first letter in all our last names," Charlie explained.

"Well, it does get pretty lonely just playing by myself," piper said. "Hey, I'm open to it!"

"Why don't you join us now? We definitely need you in our band!" said Charlie.

"No, were full!" Jaden said.

"No, we want you!" Charlie said through clenched teeth. She gave Jaden the evil eye, telling her to shut the fuck up, and the girl caught on.

"Alright! I'll join, but wont that change the name of the band?" Piper asked.

"Hmm. Your last name stars with 'H' so. . ." Charlie took a moment to think about it. It finally hit her and she gasped at how smart she was. "I've got it! We can be 'Chaos'," she said.

"I like it, but there's already a band out there called 'Chaos'," said Piper. "How about, 'The Chaotic'?" she asked.

"Wait, but were does that leave me?" asked Jaden. "I'm the 'S' in the band!"

"Don't worry about it, Jaden. It's not like it matters," said Charlie. But it did matter. Jaden felt like she wasn't apart of the band. This new girl had taken over in a matter of seconds and she had a bad feeling that it was all going to go downhill from there. She also had a bad feeling about the way Piper was looking at Charlie. Jaden thought that she might have a crush on her friend. Piper was definitely the enemy!
