Through the classroom window I watch
A fat squirrel holding an acorn
Nibbling, running, hopping, oh so happy
Without a trouble in its carefree heart

Through the classroom window I see
Sharp cut rocks jutting out in all directions
Crookedly shaped, all grey and pale
They are oblivious of eyes so green

Through the classroom window I watch
The trees dancing to the music in the winds
Their green branches swaying in the sun
Yellow leaves fluttering down the hill

Through the classroom window I see
A big black stray dog with eyes so red
She barks and her calls are answered
By tiny tan and white playful pups

Through the classroom window I watch
The pretty little butterflies fluttering by
Red and orange and white and black
Their wings made of drops of rainbows

Through the classroom window I see
Teachers chattering here and there
For once so human they also seem
Unlike the bug-eyed annoyance in class

Through the classroom window I watch
Them playing on the soccer field
He kicks the ball and makes a goal
How I wish they were in need of me

Through the classroom window I see
The distant school wall boundaries
They seem to be inviting me to come
To take a fateful jump over, please!

Through the classroom window I watch
The cars go zooming by in the distance there
Glistening mirrors, lots of gleaming glass
Just watch them fade down the pitch black road

Through the classroom window I see
A couple I know, holding hands
Seeing me there, they smile at me
And then give each other a loving glance

Through the classroom window I watch
Everyone's dreams go burning into the air
What's going on is all I thought
As I watched the black ash fall to the floor

Through the classroom window I see
No more than my reflection staring back at me
As he approaches to tell me off
For paying attention on the lesson not.........
