Innocence Lost

There is a young man,
standing over there
He is all and thin
and just a little fair.
Next to him,
stands a young woman
shorter and quite pale
with a flower in her hair.
They are the best of friends,
The strongest you could know
Yet they have both lost their innocence
As their faces will always show.
When they were young
the world was enchanted
they ran, free of burdens
together keeping strong.
They changed each other's lives
unknowingly it seemed,
and taught each other new things
from pure freedom and their dreams.
Now that is all but gone
As they've grown and changed
And passed through teen years,
With so much love, loss and tears.
Yet they still stand together
Truest of all friends,
Still trying to recapture.
an innocence, lost.
