"What are those red marks on your arm?"
Slow down, mother and remain calm!
These scratches are merely the cat
You know how it can be like that
It doesn't take much to provoke
The creature that I love to stroke
So suddenly it just lashed out
With no idea what it's about
And that's the story
.
"What are those red marks on your arm?"
Cool your voice- don't raise the alarm
They're from a run-in with a tree
Perhaps it's clumsy but that's me!
Just walking around without a care
When this plant appeared from nowhere
Its thorns scraped away at my skin
Making blood rush out from within
And that's the story
.
"What are those red marks on your arm?"
Why, it's my latest bits of self-harm!
You knew I stole that razor blade
You should have listened- should have stayed!
But this isn't what you want to hear
I know it's purely what you fear
And so I tell transparent lies
To remain perfect in your eyes
And that's the story
