I thought that would give a detailed answer to Twaberry's review as she was polite and obviously lots of time and effort into her review.
So, here we go…
"do unto others as they do unto you". Is this the exact wording?"
Yes, this is the exact wording as used by the late Anton La Vey in his work The Satanic Bible.
"What does Satanism have to do with Goths?"
Satanists are stereotyped as Goths, simple as that, I don't blame you for holding that stereotype; I held it myself for a long time.
"Does Satanism have leaders? Do (what's the word...?!) practicers of the religion obey them?"
Satanism's is broken into certain "factions" in a manner of speaking; the original Satanist movement which founded Satanism is called The Church of Satan. The Church (and hence Satanism in its modern form) was created by the late Anton La Vey who took the role a leader of the Satanic Church until his death. People can choose to obey them if they want; Satanism is about independence from group conformity and ignorance. I personally follow what is said by the Church, but only really what La Vey has laid down, with a few exceptions of course. The word for "practicers" of Satanism is Satanists, for example, "Do Satanists obey them?" would be a correct use of the word.
"is there heaven or hell in your religion? Any afterlife at all?"
I don't know what death holds, Satanism does not say there is any afterlife but Satanists are encouraged to keep an open mind.
"is Satan a physical or metaphysical being, or is he/she/it/whatever just an idea?"
Satan is a symbol, an idea if you will.
Oh, and Leigh Hunt says
"Its funny to me how Satanists, Wiccans, New Age always claim not to be involved with Pure Evil"
Please define to me what pure evil is. If it what I think you mean by it then you are either telling me that I am a paedophile and murderer or that you are disappointed that I am not one?
Well, I can't think of much more that I feel capable to explain within this essay, this half-arsed excuse for something may well be the last of this infernal series.
I think that I shall leave you with a few quotes from the Satanic Bible that help to illustrate Satanic modes of thought.
"Do unto others as they do unto you."
"Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours"
"Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!"
"Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!"
"Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!"
"Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!"
"Do not harm little children."
"Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food."
I leave you, my friends, with this; never let your vision be clouded by another's opinion, never let the wool be pulled over your eyes, be a sceptic, find out the information for yourself and make your own judgements. Be selfish, please yourself, if you are not a petty person then doing this will cause the greatest happiness for all.
Shemhamforash!
Hail Satan!
"And so it is done."
