I shed these tears
as I think of the way your beard
used to tickle my chin
as we would kiss
those days we went to the beach
just to lie together
it was as if nothing existed
except you and me and our love
Nothing at all
The water was never too cold
and it washed away all our feelings of the outside world
and we'd sit alone
until the sun set
they we'd reluctantly pack up
and return to reality
If only we had stayed on that beach
where there was no war, no navy
If only that water
could've kept you from being drafted
maybe you'd still be alive
