In the middle of the night
When the digital clock on the coffee maker shines bright
I'm alone in the darkness of my kitchen
Heavy mug of milk in my hand
Strands of messy curls falling down my shoulders
A grim expression on my face
In the middle of the night
When everyone is silent
I'm the only person left in the world
In the middle of the night
Spiders crawl up the walls
Leaving magnificent webs that sparkle like stars
Letting their shadows stretch across the ceiling
In the middle of the night
The floorboards creak as I pace back and forth
My coffee coloured eyes hidden under closed lids
My brain mumbling but I can't hear
In the middle of the night
I really can't wait till sunrise
