Sunny Money

Oh, where is this life headed?
Where shall it end up?
Is there no way
For these mistakes to be mended?
Oh, it's all about money, is it not?
A dollar spent on this
Is one dollar less spent on that.

Everyone is chasing the money;
They're all chasing the dollars.
For nothing else, no one will care.
What happens when we find
That the dollars are not there?

"Mommy, daddy! Please buy me a new dolly!"
When will we realize,
That money is our folly?
"Oh, darling, darling, I must pay these bills!"
When will we realize
That money kills?

Everyone is chasing the money;
They're all chasing the dollars.
For nothing else, no one will care.
What happens when we find
That the dollars are not there?

Oh, where is this life headed?
Where shall it end up?
In the banks, or on our credit cards,
In our checkbooks, or our wallets?
When nothing maters but money,
The world don't seem so sunny.
We'll receive quite a scare
When we find that money isn't there.
