My Heart
I have a soul, but it's no longer mine,
If you don't believe me I guess that's fine,
It doesn't make it any less true,
That the one who controls me is you,
Don't believe others when they say you have a choice,
It's not always true, for I must obey your voice,
I sometimes say no, and sometimes defy,
But if I said I wasn't afraid that's a lie,
For under my skin, and inside my veins,
There in coursing is sorrow and pain,
And no matter what I'm feeling I'll hide,
For unto your will I'll abide,
You say I'm you're favorite, but what does that entail,
You beat me harder than anyone else when I fail,
You say I have potential, that it's all for my good,
And no matter what I'll do what I should,
For you may hold my body, my conscience, my soul,
You may have my mind and will to control,
You can break me, and beat me down,
Tell me I'm nothing, shove me to the ground,
Try to rip, slash, and break apart,
But no matter what, you can't have my heart.
