Chapter 1
Dressed in a long, flowy, gauzy dark purple skirt and a white tank top, Gypsi Santiago all but ran down the sidewalk. She looked down at her delicate watch and made a face, walking faster. She had a meeting and she couldn't be late. As she raced towards her building, her long skirt dancing at her ankles, she ran her hand through her dark wavy locks.
She finally reached the entrance door to Coleman Enterprises and raced inside. Janice, the front secretary, smiled at her. "Mornin' Gypsi. You aren't late."
Janice shrugged. "Jess has told me nothing. Got any ideas about what this meeting's about?"
Janice shrugged. "Jess has told me nothing." Jess was their boss, also Janice's husband.
Gypsi smiled and took the messages from Janice. "All right, I'll forgive you this time. I'll let you know how it goes. Lunch?"
Janice nodded. "I'll be ready when you are."
Gypsi nodded and pressed the elevator button. Minutes later, she walked into her office, deposited what she didn't need, then grabbed what she did, and headed to the Conference Room.
Jess Coleman looked up from the chair he was sitting in and smiled. "Well, damn, you are on time."
Gypsi nodded. "I ran."
"Good because this is an important meeting. We are getting a new client. He's big, Gypsi."
"What does he play?" Gypsi sat down in a chair and leaned back, crossing her legs.
"Football. He plays for the Packers. Of course he plays for them, we live here."
Coleman Enterprises was an agency that dealt with sports players. Gypsi had come to the business when she has graduated high school. Jess had helped her through college after he found out her parents had died.
"The Packers? Who is it?" Gypsi opened up her file folder, looking through her notes.
"He was traded to the Packers from St. Louis. He was their quarterback. The worst mistake St. Louis ever made." Jess smiled.
Gypsi dropped the folder and looked up at Jess. "No, you didn't."
"I didn't what?" Jess asked, feigning innocence.
"Jess Coleman, what the hell are you doing signing on Colt Jacobson?"
"Do you know him?" He asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Jess, I can't believe you did this to me. You know that I know Colt. Damn, you are doing this on purpose, aren't you? You have some sick reason behind all this."
Jess shrugged. "I have no idea what you are talking about. I don't know if that's the same Colt. Now hush, he's here. Be a good girl for, all right?"
Gypsi groaned and dropped her head in her hands. "Yeah. Whatever. You are lucky you are like a father to me, Jess. Or else I would kill you."
Jess chuckled and watched as Colt walked into the Conference Room. He smirked, knowing exactly what he was doing.
