There was a young girl who would dance in the rain
Dance away sorrow, dance away pain
Leaping and twirling to a faraway song
Nothing of evil, nothing of wrong
Raindrops falling like an angel's tears
Wash away the hatred, wash away the fears
Splashing and wetting her socks and her skirt
Nevermore sadness, nevermore hurt.
She raised her hands in a plea to the skies
Dance away cruelty, dance away lies
Frozen a moment then once again moving
Nothing of fighting, nothing degrading
Spinning and twirling like a sprite brought to life
Wash away killing, wash away strife
Dancing a prayer that most failed to see
Nevermore death, nevermore misery.
Raindancer dancing to heal a broken world
Hope for the people, hope for the world
Dancing the bright dreams that should have been
All of life and joy through times good and lean
Raindancer dancing a song only she can still hear
Evermore happiness, year after year
Dancing a world that was in songs of old
A world bright as silver and warm as gold.
The rain passed away and she ceased in her dance
Opened her eyes, came out of her trance
She walked back to her home, eyes down
With no hint of the grace she has just shown
Raindancer looks to the sky, to the faraway rain
And promises that they will dance again
Her mother comes out and calls her to return
She says nothing, knowing her dance her mother would spurn.
There is a young girl dancing in the rain
Leaping and twirling to heal the world's pain
Raindancer dancing dreams, dancing fate, dancing life.
