I stepped lightly on the stones
That scattered on the lake.
I ran and danced and my hair
Flew wildly in my wake.

I had no fear not one worry.
I would live forever.
Nothing would harm or hurt me
Not a thing, not ever.

The world was a happy place
Where no one got sick or died
It was a wonderful world
Where not even children cried.

The rivers flowed and trees bloomed
Pollution was unheard of.
People smiled all the time-
All the pain turned to love.

And then suddenly I saw,
With fear and terrible dread,
That this wonderful world of mine,
Was but a dream within my head.
