Chapter 8: Playing Charades

Point of View: Raithe

Raithe woke up reaching for Jayme and instead he found Caitlin in his arms.

"Holy Jesus Christ!" he exclaimed immediately jumping out of his bed.

Caitlin looked up at him and grinned. "Good morning." Caitlin giggled. "I like your bod."

He looked down and noticed that he was shirtless. He flustered and instantly sifted through his closest for a shirt. "You know we aren't six years old anymore. Best friends' sleeping together in the same bed isn't cute these days. Your brothers would kill me."

Caitlin laughed. "I missed waking up with you... Growing old is so depressing."

He chuckled. When they were younger she would crawl into bed with him because he always woke up late and if she would even try to wake him up he would get mad at her. "How did you get in my house?"

"Blythe let me in. It's almost noon."

He groaned. "Only? It's early!"

Caitlin got up off his bed.

"It's been only a three months and you look completely different," he said noticing her outfit. She was dressed in skintight jeans and pink tank top. She wasn't the same little girl any more. She grew up nicely in male standards. But it was odd for he wasn't attracted to her. He remembered the first time he saw Jayme in make up, he was instantly attracted.

Caitlin grinned before she turned to his mirror to fix up her hair and put on a fresh layer of make up.

He always laughed inwardly on how a bit of makeup can make girls look completely different.

Jayme didn't need the make up, though, but she did look completely different with make up on. Speaking of Jayme…

"What you thinking about Raithe?"

He titled his head to her direction. He didn't have the heart to tell her. "What are you doing here so early?"

"Why didn't you tell me that you were in a dirt bike accident?"

"You know that I don't like pity."

"But I am your best friend!" Caitlin whined.

He sighed. "I'm sorry okay."

She hugged him tightly. He couldn't say he wasn't surprise because the hug threw him completely off guard. He noticed that she had a tear in her eyes.

"Why are you crying?"

"What if you died? When would I have known? Huh?"

He sat down on the bed and she sat next to him. "Cait…"

"I don't know what I would do without you," she confessed.

He raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean? You do it all the time."

She shook her head. "I don't see you but I know you are there. Raithe you are the only one for me."

That caught him off guard. She wasn't about to confess her undying love was she? At this early in the morning before his first cup of coffee? "Where's all this coming from Caitlin?" he said trying not to overreact.

"My boyfriend broke up with me," she confessed.

He felt relieved. He loved Caitlin like a sister but he wasn't attracted to her one bit. And the last thing he would ever want would be for her to like him.

"I didn't like the basturd anyway."

She smiled. "My mom doesn't understand it. She gave me a lecture that I am not ready to be in love. Blah. Blah. Blah. I stopped listening after a few seconds."

He grinned. She was still a little kid at heart.

"Let's go. It's not everyday that your best friend comes down all the way from New York. How long are you staying?"

"A week."

"Seriously? Oh damn, I have a game today."

Caitlin pouted. "You still have to go?"

He nodded.

Caitlin sighed. "Fine…"

"Nice game Jimmy," he congratulated his older cousin.

Jimmy nodded. "If you were playing we would have lost. Again."

He chuckled. "Lucky for you, then eh?"

"So, how are things with Jayme?"

He shrugged. "I had my ass kicked by her ex-boyfriend and I was the one that started it."

"I would have punched him if you hadn't beat me to it," Jimmy said.

He smiled. "I seriously hate Gabe."

Jimmy laughed.

"Raithe!" Caitlin called out his name.

He turned.

"Whoa," he heard Jimmy say. "Caitlin's all grown up."

He nodded.

"Any chance with her?" Jimmy asked referring to Caitlin.

He shook his head. "Not a chance. You?"

Jimmy nodded. "Same. Eyes on someone else, huh?"

"Sorry, Jims, but just like you said we always go for the same girl."

Jimmy chuckled. "Damn. I hate competition. But Jayme's worth it. See you later Raithe."

He laughed and watched as Jimmy walked away.

Competition, eh? Well this was one competition for a girl that he wasn't willing to lose.

"Aw, where is Jimmy going?" Caitlin asked with a pout.

He smirked. "Away from you," he joked.

Caitlin laughed. "I don't think you are funny. Cute not funny."

He chuckled. "I didn't see you in the stands."

Caitlin nodded. "I was flirting with some guys from Jimmy's school. There are bunch of hot guys there."

He raised an eyebrow. "What about me?"

Caitlin smirked. "What about you?"

He laughed. "Oh evil."

"I miss this town," Caitlin said.

He shrugged. "Why don't you move in with your dad?"

Caitlin sighed. "My dad is in a mission in South America and isn't coming back until next summer."

"He's already been there for two years..."

Caitlin nodded. "He can't help it. He says that it's his calling to bring religion to everyone."

He nodded.

"Do you remember Jared?" Caitlin asked.

"The guy that always teased you because you hanged out with the guys?"

Caitlin nodded. "He doesn't even recognize me. You should have seen his face, he was completely ogling me. I so want to make him jealous. Want to help? Oh please Raithe, all you have to do is—"

He noticed the smile in her eyes. "No!"

"Raithe!" she whined before she started poking him.

Suddenly he noticed Jayme.

"Jayme!" He found himself running towards her. "Save me!"

"Raithe…" he heard Caitlin say. He loved Caitlin as a sister but he would do just about anything to get out of her schemes. Usually he would end up looking stupid if he did comply.

He smirked at a sudden idea. "Just my luck to find you, eh?" he said as he pulled her into his arms. "Pretend that you are my girl friend," he whispered in her ear.

Her scent was purely shampoo and he liked it. He hated when girls wear a lot of perfume, it made him pukey. But Jayme smelled like strawberries. Sweet, sweet strawberries. He held her close with a smile. It was like a dream.

"Caitlin, this is my girlfriend," Raithe said.

Caitlin pouted. "You always have a girlfriend…"

"What can I say," Raithe smirked," the ladies love me."

He grinned when he felt Jayme chuckle. He liked the feel of her in his arms.

Gabe was a real basturd to give up Jayme. He could never imagine how any man can cheat on Jayme. Just like that guy who cheated on Halle Berry, what an idiot…

He stopped paying attention for a while, only commenting every so often. He wanted to run his hand through her hair. It was so shiny and silky.

And then he realized that Jayme brought her dog. Instantly he thought it was Burt. "Whoa is this Burt?"

She shook her head. "Burt passed away a few years ago. This is his daughter, Lore."

He raised an eyebrow but he was relieved. "Sorry about Burt, despite that he hated me he was an awesome dog. She looks like her father."

She smiled up at him, making his stomach ache.

Caitlin backed off. He smirked. He knew that Caitlin hated dogs. When they were little, not that much older than seven, they were walking down the street and a big dog chased them. Since then Caitlin was terrified of big dogs. He, on the other hand, faced his fears.

He started petting Lore. She wasn't as scary as her father. He remembered vividly how much Burt hated him. Of course it was his fault in the first place, he was young and stupid and threw a tiny pebble at Burt. He regretted it everyday because he would always sprint whenever he passed Jayme's house because Burt would bark at him from the other side of the gate and all the time he was terrified.

"Raithe can you promise something to me?" Jayme asked.

He didn't like the sound of her request. Looking up he knew that whatever Jayme was about to say would hurt like hell. Oh crap…

"Sure?" he said trying to hide his hesitation.

"Don't fall in love with me."

That had him. It felt like, well it didn't feel like anything. Emptiness.

He couldn't believe what he was hearing. He had to bit his lip to stop himself from letting out a yell and scream at her.

Here he was finding himself in love with her and she didn't want him. Of course she didn't say it directly, just to annoy him.

Don't fall in love with me?

Don't fall in love with me?!

Don't fall in love with me?!?

She sure knew how to put him in knots and confuse him.

How did she expect him to answer?

Oh damn, she expected an answer.

"Sorry, you caught me off guard."

"I promise," he found himself saying. It hurt, literally hurt. It was like he was signing off his soul to Satan.

She smiled up at him.

Oh yeah, I can't fall in love with that. God damn you Jayme…

"Jayme!" he heard someone yell her name.

He turned and found a group of guys and a girl. He knew none of them but recognized them from the game. They were all in the stands cheering Watt High on.

"Hey," Jayme responded.

"I didn't see you inside," a boy with a toothy grin and an acne-ridden face said.

Jayme smiled. "I was just walking by, Luke."

Suddenly he realized Caitlin walk over. "She was visiting her boyfriend," Caitlin said was a wrinkled nose.

Oh no.

Oh damn.

He closed his eyes tightly. Jayme wasn't going to playing with this charade and he was going to look stupid in front of Caitlin.

Great idea Raithe! Get out of looking like a fool in front of Caitlin and end up being a greater fool in front of Caitlin, Jayme, and a bunch of guys from Jayme's school… Great… Perfect… This day couldn't have gone down the hole even more…

He was completely surprised when he felt Jayme's hand in his. He opened his eyes instantly.

"Yeah. Derrick, Annie, Lucas, Greg, this is Raithe."

They all held looks of jealousy. A common look that only guys notice. But it didn't surprise him though.

He noticed Caitlin start flirting with Greg and decided that it was time to leave.

"I'm starving let's get something to eat."

Jayme nodded but Caitlin paid no attention. He had to pull her to get her away.

"Oh, okay," Caitlin muttered turning to follow him.

"Actually, we are going to go eat at Tony's Dinner. You should come with us," Matt said.

Jayme looked up at him. He looked back.

"Let's go!" Caitlin exclaimed linking her arm with Greg's.

Be couldn't believe Caitlin. She operated fast…

"Actually I should take Lore home," Jayme said.

"Uh," he stammered.

What am I going to do? I can't let Jayme walk home alone, but I can't leave Caitlin with these guys.

"Raithe…" Caitlin whimpered.

Need an idea… A good idea…

"I don't think it's a good idea to go alone, Caitlin," he said.

"Awwwww, stop playing the protective older brother role. Would it make you feel better if Jimmy comes with me?"

He sighed. Don't agree.

He unfortunately made the mistake to look at Caitlin.

"Please," she begged.

"Oh, fine," he said.

He heard Jayme's laugh.

"Call him," he said tossing his cell phone to Caitlin.

Caitlin grinned instantly.

"So how long have you two been together?" Derrick asked.

Oh good question.

"A day," Jayme responded before he could even think it out.

"Seriously?" Greg said.

He nodded.

Lucas looked at him with suspicion.

He felt like he was being judged and he didn't like it.

"Oh come on you guys, let up," Jayme said.

"Do your brother's know?" Lucas asked.

"Not yet," Jayme answered.

"Let's go!" Caitlin interrupted.

He pulled her back. "Hold on one moment."

Caitlin pouted.

"Be careful, okay Caitlin. Call me when you get there, call me when you get home, call me if you need anything. Tell Jimmy to give you a ride home."

Caitlin nodded before hugging him. "See you later, Raithe."

He sighed and watched as Caitlin walked away.

"So, is she your sister or something?" Jayme asked when they were alone.

He stuffed his hand in his pocket. "She's my best friend."

"Ooh, makes sense, you treat her like she's family."

He chuckled. "I want to kick all their asses."

Jayme smiled. "Don't worry. I have known those guys for a long time. They are good guys."

He sighed. "You didn't have to do that," he said referring to her pretending to be his girlfriend.

She smiled up at him. "I can play charades. But just so you know, everyone is going to know, Derrick's girlfriend Annie has the biggest mouth."

He groaned. "Would this happen to end up with a lot of very angry guys?"

Jayme smirked. "Umm, yeah…"

Her smile made him know that the next couple of days were going to be very interesting.

Well, if Jayme didn't want him to fall in love with her she is going to be in one hell of a fight for he was going to make sure she falls in love with him...

Currently 51 reviews for this story,10 reviews for the last chapter and 26 reviewers. Duu Duu Duu. :) hehe. I lacked in the inspiration department...I have been sleeping a lot lately, yesterday I had 17 hours of sleep andwas still tired this morning. Holidays are so boring... Anyway, this chapter has been somewhat hard to write, I took almost four days to write it. I kept rewriting over and over again and then I quit. haha. Tell me if it's good okay?

Trmpetplaya1 - haha.. Sorry about the cliffhangers but I can't help it. I wish I had more older brothers. My older brother may get on my nerves but he's awesome. I'll try to keep up the 'good' work lol. Thanks for the review!

cbprice25 - Thanks, I try my best...

Ledge - Hmmm, well Raithe is in love, that's for sure. haha. I have one dog. She is a dork. lol. I have a small family but I have always wanted a bigger one. It was only recently that I found out that because my mother had a miscarriage she wasn't able to have children anymore... that made me sad... Anyway I am sorry for updating slowly, hah. Thanks for reviewing!

Osha - lol. What can I say? If they fell in love so easily it wouldn't be as fun for me to write haha. Thanks for still reviewing!

joberry - Really? I wasn't really sure. A friend told me that the line was used in 'A Walk To Remember' but I never watched that movie so... eh. Two days before Christmas, hopefully I can get one more chapter out before Christmas... but don't expect much lol. Thanks for reviewing!

Twilights End - Hmmm, thanks I have pictured him already, I want to draw him and Jaymebutmy drawing are never good. lol. hehe, Thanks for reviewing!

puuuurfect angel - My dog is a mix of a labrador, chow chow, and some other breeds but she is the smallest thing. She has a bark worse than her bite and she can get very hyper, lol. She would probably take on a dog twice her height, and most dogs are... lol. But I love her nonetheless. Now back to the story... Caitlin is the best friend who flirts with all the guys lol. Thanks for reviewing!

Lethal-Injection - Why don't you update your story, eh?... 'A Walk To Remember' eh... Well your right about the not watching chick flicks. The movie sounds familiar but never watched it. Haha, yeah well writing is my boredom time. My little brother made fun of me for it... Jerk! haha. I think I continued as slow as possible... lol. Sorry.

nykea- Yet another filipina! I never could have expected that there were a bunch of filipina's on fiction press. haha. Awesome. Although you went anonymous, thanks for reviewing.
