Peterson Verdict

Here are the facts. On Friday November 12, 2004, after over a week of chaos in the jury room and five hours of deliberation between the new jury (two of the original members were kicked out but the rest stayed), the jury found Scott Peterson guilty of 1st degree murder of his wife, Laci, and 2nd degree murder of his unborn son, Conner. He faces either life in prison without a chance of being paroled or capital punishment by lethal injection. The jury will reconvene on November 22 to decide what his sentence will be.

This is my opinion. Even though I haven't been following this trial too closely, I have still been paying attention. The verdict is satisfying and there is only one problem I have with it. It took too long. Why in the name of God did it take so long for these people to figure out he killed them? The evidence was overwhelmingly against him. He was smiling throughout the whole trial. I don't know about you, but to me, that's a pretty big red flag. He said he was about a mile away from the spot where she was dumped at the same time she was dumped there. Not only that, he even moved out of the house after she was "missing". Doesn't this strike anybody as even mildly suspicious? To be perfectly honest, I hope this piece of shit gets the death penalty. We need to wipe crap like him off the planet before they do something else. Besides, if he got life in jail instead of death, do you know what that would mean? It would mean that your tax dollars, your money, would be used to feed him, clothe him, pay for his medical bills, his toiletries and his cell maintenance. How are you going to feel when you realize you're paying to keep him alive instead of just give him an early visit to Hell?

The following is a rant that this whole thing has inspired. The whole prison idea has been taken too far. Now, I'm not against having prisons. I'm not saying that nobody should go to jail, because some people really need to be locked up. I'm all for sending rapists, thieves, molesters, pedophiles, non-lethal violent criminals and drug lords to jail. However, I draw the line at murders. They should just be executed. These people have killed another human being without remorse and should be removed from this earth so they can do no further harm. My policy is that if somebody commits 1st degree murder, they should be executed. Murder is one of those things that pretty much every culture forbids.
