Writing Moments

I reached for a moment

And tried to hold it tight,

To keep it in place

Until I could write.

The moment escaped me,

Flew right past my pen,

And although I ran after it,

It never came again.

I waited for another one,

And I watched it go.

Then I tried to recreate it

Without any ink flow.

I doodled in my notebook

Another moment I'd found.

I'm proud to say it turned out,

Although it's not very sound.

It's hard to put on paper

Something you can't see.

A moment only comes once,

And rarely ever to me.
