My Night Song

The night was a bottle of black ink spilled over the earth

The moon shone full and bright

The stars twinkled in the distance

Not as bright, but out numbering the moon

The crickets chirp softly

And the owl hoots in a recurring pattern

Both are accompanied by the howl of the wind

And the rhythm is completed with the whisper of the trees

Slowly I fall asleep to the tune of my night song
