I was just a kid, just your average 15 year-old kid. Nothing special about me, I was just…average. Ok maybe I wasn't completely average, I was a little hyper, as most kids are, but other than that I was other than that just a normal every day teenage kid. Every night I ask myself, why? What triggered it? What made me into this…this…thing that I have become. To this new me there are advantages and disadvantages. I will let you decide if you would want my life. My name is Jeremy, This is my story, this is my life.

"Wow! Did you see that?" my friend Andrew said to me. He was about five seven, five eight, around one hundred forty pounds. He has light brown hair that looked almost in a bull-cut style. His build is like mine, muscular but not ripped. I think that night he was wearing a black and yellow hooded sweatshirt, that's all I can remember about that though, probably because the yellow was so bright.

"I know that was sweet!" I said back to him. Me on the other hand, I am about five ten and one-half. I weigh about one thirty three, with darker brown hair that was pushed down with gel toward the front of my head. My bangs were all messed around also. Don't ask me what I was wearing that night, I couldn't tell you. We were at a movie theater, watching Blade III. After the movie we left the theater the back way, so that we would avoid everyone…and explore a little. We got into the back of the theater and looked around.

"Wow" I said.

"Jeremy, I don't think that we should be back here," Andrew said to me with worry in his voice.

"Dude, ok, listen, if we were aloud back here, would we be?"

"Good point, I just got one of those feelings" he said, his voice still a little shaky.

"Chill, I have one too, that's why we're still moving back along the yellow brick road."

"Alright, lets go" he said. As we were walking, we heard a very weird noise.

"Shhh," I said quietly, "Someone is following us." We stopped walking and ducked behind some nearby boxes in the empty back-stage.

"I'm gonna go check to see what this is" Andrew said. I grabbed him hard enough on the arm so he knew that I didn't want him leaving.

"You do that and you might blow our cover," I said. After about ten minutes I decided that no one was there and that it was probably the janitor or something. We decided to leave and go walking around town for a little bit. It was about nine o'clock so I wanted to call my parents. I got my cell phone out of my pocket and called.

"Yes mom, by eleven, Can I just go to Andrew's house and call you from there? Ok cool, I love you too, see ya."

"So?" he asked me.

"I'm out until eleven and I gotta be at your house" I said with dull excitement. All of the sudden something hit me in the back of the head.

"Ouch!" I yelled and spun around quickly to see a group of kids, one dusting his hands off. My eyebrows sunk and my eyes narrowed. Andrew saw this and quickly grabbed my arm and pulled me away.

He said, "Don't, just ignore them." Just then another sharp pain hit me and as I spun I saw a rock heading straight for my head. My eyes widened, eyebrows sunk again, I stuck out my hand straight in front of me and, very rapidly, not only did the stone change direction, but also every thing for ten feet in the direction I was looking moved from it's position…including the group of kids. Andrews jaw dropped instantly as almost 60 rocks and stones flew into the air and at the group of kids. After all of the dust settled he took his arms away from his face and looked around. There was a big crater where all of the stones came from and I was standing there with my hand still out in front of me. My eyes rolled back into my head and I passed out. Andrew ran over to me and shook me, I think. When I opened my eyes they were completely white and he flew back ward along with the ground around me… at least, that's what he told me. Later I woke up lying in a bed that was in a room that seemed familiar. I rubbed my eyes and notice that it was my room, which explained the familiarity. There was a doctor waiting, and when he noticed that I was awake, he came over to me.

"Welcome back" he said.

"Uh, thanks" I replied but my voice cracked. He handed me a glass full of water.

"Here, drink" he said. I gulped it down and took a deep breath.

"Is Andrew alright?" I asked him.

"He has a minor gash, he needed stitches, but yeah he's ok" the doctor answered.

"My name is Doctor Penguini," he told me.

"Can I call you Doc Penguin?" I asked in sort of a quiet voice.

He chuckled a little and then said,

"Sense of humor, good sign." We both laughed a little.

"You are just fine, you just need a little more rest. I don't want you out of this bed until tomorrow" he told me sternly.

"Yeah yeah, sure sure, got it." Just then Andrew walked in. He had a very weird look on his face, not to mention a couple of stitches on the side of it.

"Is it clear for me to come in?" he asked Doctor Penguini.

"Yeah, I think the trouble is gone" the doctor answered.

"Hey" I said.

"Hey, you ok?" Andrew asked me.

"I feel alright," I told him.

"He's not getting up until tomorrow" the doctor said as he walked out of my room.

"How 'bout you?" I asked him.

"Fine I guess," he said,

"My face hurts a little."

"How many stitches?" I asked.

"Eight" he answered.

"Sorry" I said.

"Don't worry about it, we just need to figure out what happened." Andrew said.

"Right, but can we figure it out tomorrow?" I asked.

Andrew chuckled, "yeah sure."

The next morning, when I woke up, Andrew was sitting next to me. He was asleep, which didn't surprise me; and I was hungry, so I went down stairs to get some thing to eat. When I got to the kitchen I opened the fridge and looked around. I took an apple from the crisper and closed the door. When I looked up there stood Andrew yawning.

I jumped and said,

"Whatr you doin outta bed?" sleepily.

"The same thing you are, now move," he said just as sleepily as me, then pushed me out of the way and got into the fridge himself. I walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. I grabbed the remote off of the coffee table and turned on the T.V. When I flipped through the channels something caught my eye. When I flipped back to the channel I saw a news reporter in the alley Andrew and I were in the other night after the movie.

"Right here out side of the movie theater" the reporter started, "there is a most peculiar sight, a crater that looks as if it was created by some sort of supernatural force. I can't believe that explosives have anything to do with this Jim, I mean it's just to perfect! Look at the just…well…I can't say anything but weirdly perfect circularity of this crater! It seems almost as if it would have taken months for this finely crafted hole to have been created! Man, back to you Jim." As soon as the report was over I turned the T.V. off. "Did I do that?" I asked Andrew as he came into the living room just as I had turned off the report.

"Yeah, you did" he answered. We both just looked at each other in silence for what seemed like hours.

A few minutes later, he said,

"Look, don't worry about it, we wont tell anyone. Ok?"

"Yeah," I said, "Sure."

Just then the phone rang.

"Hey Jeremy, it's Jess." Andrew said to me.

"Bring it here" I said back.

"Hey," I said into the phone, talking to Jess.

"Hey" she said back.

"Sup?" I asked.

"Normally I'd say nuttin, but there is definitely something up with you" she said.

"I know, but I'm not sure exactly what the heck it is. How 'bout we don't talk about it for now?" I answered.

"Ok, so what are you doing later?" She asked me.

"Just hanging out with Andrew, trying to get back to normal, what ever that is," I answered.

"Well, would you guys wanna come over here?" She asked.

"Would you be able to come here?" I asked her.

"Hold on, let me see" she said. She left for about five minutes and then came back on the phone,
"Yeah, sure, when should I be there?" she asked.

"Noon" I told her.

"Cool, noon, I'll be there, see ya" she said.

"Yeah see ya" I said, and then hung up.

"Hey, Jess is gonna come down later. About noon time." I told him.

"Cool, do you want me to leave then?" he asked me.

"No, we'll all hang out" I said.

"Ok" he assured, then came over and sat down next to me. At around 11:00A.M. I decided to go take a shower. It took longer than I expected because when I got out and went over into my room, there sat Jess. I was only in my towel because I never take clothes with me into the bathroom. I don't like to get them wet. Well naturally she surprised me by being there, so I wound up dropping my towel by accident. Her eyes got huge and then when I realized what had happened, so did mine. I quickly pulled the towel over myself again and the walked past her to my dresser. I then dropped it again (this time on purpose) and this time Jess was expecting it, so she started looking elsewhere in my room. I noticed her blushing. The whole time I spent getting dressed we didn't say a word to each other. I picked out my favorite out fit and my favorite boxers. The boxers were white and gray plaid. My jeans were Jnco brand and blue, and my shirt was a big gray shirt with a dragon on it and the word decal "Dragon." I then pulled my fake gold necklace over my head. After that I put my gray socks and black sneakers on.

"So," I said as I was tying my shoe, "What's up?"

"Nothing" she said.

"Ok, so…" I said. I walked over and sat down on the bed next to her. "Is there anything you wanna do?" I asked.

"Well," she said, then leaned over and kissed me.

"Yeah, I would like to too, but Andrew is down stairs" I told her. She looked disappointed but agreed and we both walked down the stairs and sat down on the couch. Just then Andrew said,

"Sweet, my turn" and ran up stairs to get in the shower.

I turned to Jess and asked her,

"Are you freaked out about what happened. I mean, the other day."

"You mean outside of the movie theater?" she asked.

"Yeah," I answered.

"A little," she told me, "But it's also kind-of cool." I was really relieved when she said that. I was just so scared that she would be scared of me now and that I would have to really work to keep what we worked so hard to build. She saw the look in my eyes that I had, that look of worry, then she said to me as she put her arms around me and laid against me on the couch,

"Jeremy, don't worry, I don't like you any less." I guess the look went away because she seemed to relax. I grabbed the remote and flipped on the T.V. There was a movie that I had seen before on, Patch Addams, so we watched it. The movie was about half way through when the phone rang. The persons voice on the other end was cold and emotionless.

"Hello?" I said.

"I know it was you" the voice said.

"Who is this?" I asked and I was standing up now. Jess was worried as I was talking.

"I know you did it, and I'm going to show you…just wait and see" the voice said, then hung up. I hung the phone up and just stood there, staring.

"What's wrong?" Jess asked.

"Nothing, must have been a wrong number" I told her.

"Ok, then come back over here and sit down" she said. I did as she said and she laid her head on my shoulder and her hand on my stomach. I put my arm around her and just then Andrew came down the stairs.

"Hey" he said to me.

"Hey" I said back still looking at the T.V.

"When are Mom and Dad getting home?" (He called my parents mom and dad) he asked.

"Dunno, I hope not for a while." I answered.

"What're you two watching?" he asked.

"Patch Adams, now be quiet" Jess told him.

"Ok," he said, then sat down on a chair across the room. After about a half an hour I got thirsty and went to the kitchen to find something to drink. As I was pouring myself some Mountain Dew© Andrew yelled

"Jeremy, get your butt in here now!" It startled me and I dropped the bottle. I ran inside the room and they had a news report on.

"I thought we were" I started but then Andrew cut me off.

"Shut-up, watch"

"And the up and rising star Ginny Ricorn has just received word that her album Don't wanna wait forever has hit double platinum and two of the songs have done the same on the singles charts" the news reporter said.

"Doesn't that girl go to our school?" Andrew asked me.

"Yeah, I talked to her when she was still there. I always wondered what happened to her" I answered him.

"Well, here is your answer" Andrew said with a grin. I went back into the kitchen and cleaned up my mess. Then I poured some Mountain Dew© into a cup and went back inside the living room just in time for the commercial to come on to show a movie bite to tell you that the movie was coming back on. I had my back on the arm of the couch and Jess leaned up against me, so, I put my arms around her. She looked up at me and smiled and went back to watching the movie. The bite that was one had one of the characters saying, "My report will read N.A.T.L., Not Authorized To Leave". Then the character that Robin Williams played said "And my report will read I.D.G.R.A., I Don't Give A Rats Ass." I laughed at that, then realized, that was the first time I had laughed that hard for a while.

"Oh, my ribs!" Andrew said when he was finished laughing.

"I know, mine hurt too" I said, and then went back to the movie. Jess nestled closer to me and I just held her tighter. It was as if the whole situations didn't happen. I was just a kid again, and I loved it. What happened next destroyed that feeling. I thought I heard someone come inside the house, but it was from down in the basement. I stood up and began to walk toward the basement door, Jess looked at me funny.

"Where are you going?" Worry and confusion soaked her voice.

"Basement" I told her, and kept walking. Andrew jumped up to follow me. When I opened the door and flicked on the light, I saw a person run back out of the door. I jumped down the stairs, then realized that that might not have been the smartest move, there being around thirty-two of them and all. The funny thing is, I slowed down before I hit the ground. When I felt my hair standing up off of my head I knew that what ever "powers" I had developed took effect and were coming out. When my feet touched the basement floor, I took off at a full run for the door. (Being on the cross-country team has its advantages.) When I got there it was as if that door never existed, the wood seemed to melt into a sea of splinters that surrounded my body and followed me, but never touched my skin. That was when I saw the person again, and they just stopped running. Not only that, but their whole body lifted off of the ground like a stiff board being lifted like an infant. I heard them yell,

"Whoa!" as they floated at the very least twenty feet above the ground. The person spun upside down and began violently shaking. The understanding that this was my fault hit me and that I was doing it to see what they had taken…if anything. When I saw that they took nothing, I was relieved but that also just angered me even more, I knew why they were there now. By this time Andrew had gotten Jess and they were both standing behind me. Out of nowhere there was a police siren, that was about the time that I decided what I was going to do. I raised my hand to get better control of the person, inadvertently sending every splinter into their flesh. I began amusing the thought that they looked like a wooden porcupine as I was walking toward the street.

"What are you doing?" Andrew screamed after me. All I did was turn around and smile. When the cop had stopped moving I realized that he had come to visit my house, this made me a little more irritated.

"Do your job, here is the real criminal!" I yelled to him, and then flung the person into the cop car. The masked individual flew into the cruiser with a crunch as the hood dented in and the windshield shattered. The policeman looked astonished and his mouth dropped open. When I turned around I saw Andrew and jess, they looked equally astonished. I was feeling my hair start to droop, and then everything went black. What seemed like seconds later to me, I woke up, lying on a bed, again. Not exactly sure of where I was, I opened my eyes and tried to piece everything together.

"Ok," I thought, "I just stopped a potential burglar, even though I know that wasn't why they were there, by picking them up with my mind, piercing them with splinters, and tossing them into a police car like a stray base ball. Now what happened after that?" Looking around I noticed that I was in a white room and I heard a beeping noise. That bothered me a little bit, and I heard the beep increase in speed slightly. After that I felt some ones hand on my face. I looked where the touch was coming from and saw jess standing over me. I breathed a sigh of relief; since she was there I was probably ok.

"Hey" I said to her. She smiled and sighed even more than I did. She turned her head to try and choke down her tears but I saw them anyway.

"Don't worry, I'm ok" I tried to reassure her, do you think it worked? Of course not! Anyway, she looked at me and smiled when I said that and followed up with

"I know but the more you do this the more you scare me."

"Well, there really isn't a whole lot I can do, it just…. I don't know, happens" I was saying as the doctor walked in. That was about the time I noticed the sticky plugs on my forehead.

"Measuring my brain activity I see." I said with a cocky tone, that he knew was strictly playful.

"Yes, and there are no abnormalities" he said in a confused voice with just a bit of worry. The doctor had light blonde hair, and stood around 5foot 6. An average weight for his size, he also had a beard that covered his face. It looked as though his eyebrows bled into the beard its self, which was also almost invisible due to his blonde hair.

"So, you can really move objects with your mind?" he asked me quietly, he seemed almost afraid to be heard saying it.

"I'm not sure, but I might be able to. I don't know if I can do it at will or not though."

"Could you try?" he asked me. Walking across the room he laid his pen on the television set, then walked back over to me.

"I guess I could…here goes nothing." I raised my hand, as if trying to grab the pen off of the T.V. as the doctor watched the pen and E.K.G. machine closely. I was getting annoyed because I knew for a fact that I could do this. My hair started to raise off of my head again and the T.V. that was sitting on the dresser started to move toward me. The doctor quickly said, "STOP!!" when he noticed it. Then I realized that he didn't see it at all but he actually saw an incredibly huge spike on the machine. My hair went back down as I relaxed, and I felt so incredibly exhausted.

"That is amazing Jeremy" he said awe struck. Collapsing against my pillow, I barely had enough energy to blink. I looked at my arms and saw the veins sticking out really bad, worse than usual. For a moment I thought that maybe I was using my body too much…

"What is?" I asked him, my voice thick with weariness.

"I have never seen brain activity like that before! How is this possible?" he asked under his breath. I looked at Andrew and said,

"Dude, I don't have the energy to move."

"Awe, hun, just rest" Jess said lovingly.

"Yea, rest, good idea" I said while closing my eyes. When I opened them again, I was mostly rejuvenated, or so it seemed. The use of my "powers" really takes a lot out of me, but I was thinking about trying to fine- tune them, perhaps making them stronger. I looked around the room and noticed that Jess was still there, as well as Andrew. I found it funny that my parents weren't anywhere to be found, but I also figured they had to work and knew that I was ok, so I didn't worry. The clock read 4:30 when I looked up at the glowing digital numbers.

"Perfect, in the morning or afternoon?" Looking toward the window of my room I saw that it was pitch black outside.

"Well that answers my question, best to wake up in the morning anyway I guess." When I tried to get out of bed I almost fell on my face.

"Wow, that took more out of me than I thought." I said. Regaining my balance, I started walking out of the door. Opening it allowed the light from the hallway to flood the room. Then I started to walk out across what felt like ice on my feet. I was constantly stumbling around, my legs felt like Jello©. One of the nurses saw me trying to walk and asked if I wanted help of some kind.

"Can I get you a wheel chair or anything hun?" she offered.

"Nope, I have to walk" I told her with a fake smile, "thank you though." Gritting my teeth, and praying to god that I wouldn't fall on my face, I continued walking down the brightly lit, very shiny hallway, which froze my freaking toes. That was about the time that I wish I had my slippers or something, berrr. I was somewhere around twenty feet from my door when I saw the bathroom, and breathed a sigh of relief. Once finished with my business (and almost giving myself a swirly from lost balance), I began to walk back to my room. The hall seemed like it was miles long, and when I finally go to my room I was once again, exhausted. That started to really frustrate me.

"I don't understand this, I should be fine, but I'm more tired than ever!"

"No, that cheese has blue stuff on it" Andrew said in his sleep. I was fighting off chuckles as I crawled back into bed. As I lay there staring at Jess, I began thinking to myself.

"Later on today, I will get up, go home, and figure this…Yawn this whole thing…out…" then trailed off to sleep.
