A note from the author (2)
Wow, it's been six years... That's insane.
In the previous note from the author, posted in May of 2006, I said that I will probably do a revision to Crave now that the story is done, and finally, in 2012, I have decided to keep that promise.
I am in the process of rewriting the book, in an attempt to clear up any plot holes, continuity errors and mistakes that are present in the original. As some of you may already know, I made up the story as I went along, and all chapters were written on-the-fly with no prior planning. Now that I have the benefit of the full story I can start from the beginning, tie the whole thing together in a neater package and sprinkle in some symbols, allusions and other literary devices.
So, what does this mean?
Well, I am currently studying at university and my final year timetable has left me a lot of spare time, so I am hoping that there will be time enough to finish this as well as my third year writing project and other commitments. But am also hoping that this project will motivate me to start writing again.
My ultimate hope (no pun intended) is that I will be able to put this book onto the Amazon Kindle store once it is completed (but I will post it on Fictionpress first to gauge the response).
I have the feeling that Crave has been a thorn in my side for the past 6 years, knowing that the full-story is there, the longest thing I have ever written, and is stranded under the horrors of the writing ability of the fourteen-to-seventeen year old boy I used to be. I'm not sure how much (if at all) my writing has improved since the first draft, but hopefully it will be noticeable- I've definitely changed as a person.
I have broken the entire story up into three "books" (some of you may have noticed that there are a couple of points in the book where a large chunk of time is skipped over, once again, a peril of making it up as you go along, but a blessing when trying to revise the book later). The first of which is the first six chapters. I have just finished writing these and I expect that I will post them up on my page within the next three days (final revisions, I want to make sure that they're the best they can be for you all). Then hopefully Book 2 and Book 3 will not take another six years each.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this story over the years, and I hope that this news is good news.
(Sorry to disappoint you if it isn't).
