FIRE FLAMED FRIEND
By Lisa Scupham
One spark of a match has fallen fate
The foolish friend's life burnt
Destroyed frailed photographs of his past
Fire safety they had not learnt.
Candle alit knocked down by arm
From deadly, devil dreams
Flew off his desk side table and flamed
Is what makes doom it seems.
Soon the fire from Hades' hell
Consumes the home around
Hell and heat the fire blazed
Too late are the fireman's sound.
Ashes are left of friend and house
Families weep deeply
The pitiful awareness of what fire can do
All that survived is memory.
