Author's Note: This is actually a poem that I wrote for English class (a poetry portfolio, to be exact. It's Blank Verse, soit has ten syllablelines, five accents in each line, and no end rhyme. Feel free to offer pleasent critiques. It was inspired by a painting hangingin the hallway of my school. A very freaky/awesome painting. Anyways, please read and review! Thanks!

Nightmare Man

The Nightmare Man came to visit me here

I cannot say I am pleased to see him

What horrors does Nightmare Man wish to give

A drowning, perhaps? Or a cold, cold grave

Whatever it is, I will wake up now,

Screaming bloody murder, shaking, sweating.

No visions of sugarplums dancing in

Heads. Instead, spiders and creepy-crawlies

Waiting, waiting, to devour me whole.

What else could go wrong, the nightmare man asks

A gross bloodless face, outside my window

Monsters and some demons, sent up from Hell.

Only insanity awaits me now

When there are sights I cannot wish away

Trapped in an eternity of darkness

Unable to defend myself from it

Nobody can save me, or offer help

Nightmare Man, Nightmare Man, please go away!
