The Safe Place
by: trista groulx

Safe within his arms,
I thought I was free
Snuggled closely against him
He was holding me so tight
I thought the safety would never end
Our cocoon safe from the world
Our slumber not to be interrupted
Not by those things,
Which skulk in the night
Supposed to be, safe in his arms
Safe within a loving circle
Just happy to be in love,
To be safe at last
But the creatures they did come
To shatter what I thought was safe
What I thought was my safe place
And now it's really gone
