b>A Shot Heard Around the World /b>

Tension….

It fills the air with an almost visible tingling….

It reverberates in every mind in the endless rows…

Endless rows of reds…

So many of them…

So little of us…

Us with our little rifles…

Them with their killer guns…

They are trained to kill…

To fight…

We are trained to farm…

To shop-keep…

But not to battle…

Yet here we are…

Fighting for what we believe…

Freedom…

It compels us all…

To fight...

Neither side will start the fight…

But both plan to finish it…

My finger grow sweaty…

As I wait for the first break of the silence…

The first crack of the gun…

The first sign of a fight…

I am only sixteen…

But a child…

Yet I fight…

For what will soon be my country…

I tighten my grip on the gun in my hand…

My finger on the trigger…

I tighten…

I tighten…

CRACK!

I pulled the trigger that started a war…

I moved the pebble that changed the flow of a river…

I knocked down the first domino in a delicate stack of lives…

I took so many lives…

I am sorry.
