Signature Scrawled

By Carter Tachikawa

(It's been a while since I lasted posted any poetry. Thank goodness I have poetic diarrhea again! Here's a typical love poem called a villanelle. The repetition is part of the poem.)

With my signature scrawled upon your soul
I vowed to cater all your fantasies
Piece your love together and make it whole

As we're watching scenes of our lives unroll
I'll take over your heart like a disease
With my signature scrawled upon your soul

While your pain is waiting to receive its toll
I'll use my fingers, brush it off your sleeves
Piece your love together and make it whole

When our lives will become restless and droll
I'll be the one you can trouble and tease
With my signature scrawled upon your soul

And when we go out on our evening stroll
My magic will make spring from autumn leaves
Piece your love together and make it whole

Rest assure these are vows I never stole
Made only for you, I want your hopes to please
With my signature scrawled upon your soul
Piece your love together and make it whole
