Sweet Child

Darkness descends,

On a life made of glass,

All on the verge of breaking.

The poor soul cries out,

And listens to the echo,

A constant pounding in the ear.

All he wants to know,

Is this dream,

Or is this reality?

He's all alone,

And he cries for help.

My Child,

I've always known your name.

Since before you were born,

I've watched over you.

Take comfort in me,

And I will give you rest.

The warmth that comforts you,

And the voice that sings to you.

Oh Sweet child,

You've always been my Son.

The wind picks up,

On a life of dust,

All on the verge of blowing away.

He's always been thrown,

From place to place,

Never having a place to call home.

He cries to the skies,

Behind him a life of lies,

Will he ever be set free,

And find a way Home?

My Child,

I've always known your name.

Since before you were born,

I've watched over you.

Take comfort in me,

And I will give you rest.

The warmth that comforts you,

And the voice that sings to you.

Oh Sweet child,

You've always been my Son.

The Ice rises,

On a life made of Cold Steel,

All on the verge of cracking.

A soul so cold,

No human warmth could crack,

Pushed everyone away,

All his life long.

Now as he realizes,

All he threw away,

He cries into the night,

And wishes for the warmth of day.

Will he ever find,

The love he's lost?

My Child,

I've always known your name.

Since before you were born,

I've watched over you.

Take comfort in me,

And I will give you rest.

The warmth that comforts you,

And the voice that sings to you.

Oh Sweet child,

You've always been my Son.

The voice that sings to you,

The hand that clings to you,

Oh my child,

I've always known your name.
