Late into the night

I lay in bad

My eyes held open

By the everlasting thoughts

Of love

Of live

Of the never-ending pain

That resides in my mind.

As the night goes on

And the darkness looms

My eyes grow heavy, and continue to get heavy

Until I give in to the burden of the night.

As I sleep

My thoughts come to life

I awake, cold sweat glistens on my body

My eyes, scan the floor for movement.

Paranoia rushes me

Pounds itself into me

Becomes a plain

Where fear itself

Dances in the shadows
