A Day in the Wild

One lone wolf's cry

Sounds through the chilled air.

One bright star shines in the sky

Just like the wolf, one of many.

His eyes search the night sky and spots the

Circling eagle.

The eagle sees the wolf and moves on.

His heavy wings aided by the frosty breeze.

He returns to his nest and settles down,

Waiting for the dawn's sun

To break the stillness of the horizon.

His eyes snap open, catching the sun's light.

A hare nibbles clover.

He's usually the eagle's food – not today.

The hare hops away across the meadow

And hides in the lush grass.

Everything is still.

Another day in the wild.
