Broken Glass

Broken glass and rose petals

Scattered on the granite floor

No breath of wind

Can seep through this door

Years of storage and stacking up

Accumulates too much dust

For the sun to shake loose

And I know that I must

Forget, forgive, remember

As this heart becomes calloused

My learning curve becomes tender

Forcing another emotional overflow

Dance like no-one's watching

I heard someone say that once

For now I'm left dancing on broken glass
