A/N: Hello there! This is my first story that's not a fan fiction so this could turn out really well or really crappy. This takes place on the planet Teltica so… Well, you won't see author's notes often. The only time is if a person asks a question. Enjoy!
Chapter 1: The Accident
It is a cool October night. The empty streets are awakening from the crowd of people leaving a rock concert. Dad and I are amongst the people leaving the stadium downtown Kinari. We left earlier than most people knowing how packed up it will be. We are on the highway heading towards home just five miles away from here.
What a great concert it was. One of the all time greatest bands came here, which is rare for anyone to come here. Dad ordered tickets for the both of us months in advanced. Good thing, too, because they sold out quickly. There was an enormous mash pit and I wanted to go in. Being so young and small, as in eight years old and four foot three, Dad told me not to go in there. Disappointed, yes, but I listened.
I live with my father, in case you have not guessed. Dad and my mother got a divorce two years ago. Mother wanted full custody over me. Battle after battle after battle, it seem to never end! Dad won custody over me and boy was my mother furious! It was lovely! Well, unfortunately, she lives in the same town. However, she is only allowed to see me on certain days, and usually that doesn't happen. She is too busy hanging out with her friends and she doesn't have the 'gas money' to see me. Ha! The many times I have seen her out in public with her buddies. Oh well, that means more time with Dad.
Just a few yards back, a black SUV is swerving all over the place. Why this person will drive a bus I will never know. Only reason I can think of is if they have a huge family, which most cases it's not. Dad notices the person as well. They quickly gain up on us. The person is in the far left lane and we are on the far right lane. It seems that we will be fine and this moron will pass us. Am I ever wrong…
The enormous bus-like vehicle swerves quickly to the right directly towards us. Dad tries to get out of the way but it is unsuccessful. The vehicle slams into the driver's side of the truck and the truck begins to spin. I scream, frighten by this situation. Pain goes through my body like I have been shocked by electricity. I feel weak… I look over to Dad to check on him. Blood covers him; his eyes are open but empty. What a nightmare, it is horrible to see!
"D-daddy…" I weakly say. I slip out of consciousness slowly. Before you know it, everything goes black.
What a strange smell… it smells like sickness and sanitizer. Sniff… also like band-aids, too. Why in the world would it smell like sickness, sanitizer, and band-aids? Wait a minute… it smells like sickness, sanitizer, and band-aids. That means…
I slowly open my eyes. Ack, everything is so white. My vision clears up and I start to look around. I hear a low-pitched beeping sound.
"Doctor, she's gained conscious," says a female voice. Who is that person? I look in front of me and there stands a woman with a white shirt with black hair put up in a bun and dark eyes. Next to her is a middle-aged man with bushy black hair and light blue eyes.
"Tell the girl's mother she's conscious," he tells the nurse. She nods and leaves.
Oh no… my mother is here. I am in a hospital… The wreck actually happened! My nightmare is reality! Dad…is Dad okay? Is he doing well? Please tell me he's fine!
"Leila, my baby!" cries out a woman's voice. I groan. Just to make things worse my mother is here. She runs over and hugs me. I feel a sharp pain down my chest.
"Let go…" I tell her.
"You're alive!" she cries out in joy and continues to hug me.
"Ma'am, I suggest you let go," says the nurse. The woman listens and releases me. Thank God, it seriously started to hurt.
"I thought you're going to die! Oh my God!" she starts to bawl. I roll my eyes and lie back on the bed. I look up at the doctor.
"How's Dad?" I ask.
A mask of sadness is worn on his face. I freeze. Time seems to slow down suddenly. No… no, please don't tell me what I think it is!
"I'm sorry, but your father has passed on…"
No… let me get up from this nightmare! Please, God, please! I cannot stand it! Let me wake up, it's too painful! No!!
A solo hot tear runs down my right cheek. "No…" I whimper.
"I'm sorry, honey," says mother.
"You're not sorry!" I shout at her. I sit up. "You don't care for him! You hate him! That's why you left him! You wanted me all to yourself! YOU WANTED TO MAKE HIS LIFE MISERABLE AS POSSIBLE!!" I smirk. "But you lost the battle and he had full custody over me."
She glares at me. Pushed a major button, oh yeah! "Would you leave us alone, please?"
"…Sure…" says the nurse with hesitation. The two leave the room. As soon as they did my mother slaps my face.
"Don't you ever talk to me like that!" She smiles impishly and an evil look is on her face. "I have custody over you now whether you like it or not."
"Just to inform you I don't…"
"Well too bad…"
"Dad marrying you was the worst mistake he made…" I mutter under my breath.
"What did you say?"
I look up at her and slowly say, "I said Dad---marrying---you---was---the---worst---mistake---he---made. Got that, moron?"
"Bull shit! If your father didn't marry me you wouldn't be here!"
"Feh, fine with me. None of this would've happen…"
She slaps me again. "Stop being a bitch!" By this time her face is now beat red. I try holding back a laugh. Nope, didn't work. I start to laugh in amusement.
"Thank you for showing your weak spot." I stop laughing. "Now leave."
"I will not…"
"Leave, now, or else I'll call up the nurse and have her escort you out of the room."
She sighs in frustration and leaves. Thank God, I had enough of her. I lie back down. So now I have to live with my oh-so wonderful mother of mine. Damn it, I really don't want that. Dad is gone now… away from this world. At least he's at a better place. Heh, fate is so cruel.
