"A Hippie's Eulogy"

The street is long and filled with silence,

Not long before it was filled with violence.

Papers scuttle across the ground,

Like the answers that cease to be found.

Protesters had marched with their signs,

How were they to know the sun soon wouldn't shine?

Verses of "Hell no, we won't go" they sing,

Peace and love they had sought to bring.

The police force met them with riot gear,

Still the protesters showed no fear.

Marching onwards, forward flight,

The flower children did not wish to fight.

Pigs strike the first blow,

As they let the blood flow.

All they wanted was peace,

But the police force refused to cease.

So where have all the flowers gone?

They lay broken across the lawn.
