Hey! Before we get started, here's a brief, very very very brief summary:
He's a cold hearted vampire, she's the ever so powerful vampire slayer. They're the strongest of both worlds, human and supernatural. A forbidden love arises. And now she must decide what to do. Betray the entire human race or kill him like she was born to do. Is their love strong enough to help her to make the right decision, or is she on her own? The main question: how strong is their bond? And will it last and for how long?
Well this is the first chapter, of my fourth story on here! Yea, I'm so excited, this has to do with vampires, but these vampires are different from the ones in "You Can Run But You Can't Hide", the vampires in this story can not go out during the day. Now that that is cleared up here's chapter one, Enjoy:
I should have known something wasn't right the minute I stepped into my house. I could sense that something wasn't right. The faint scent of blood filled my nostrils. I also sensed someone was there, someone that shouldn't have been there….
I threw my leather jacket carelessly onto the coat rack that was by the door, I missed horribly, but I was too pissed off to go and pick it up. Tonight had been rough, rougher than usual. I had faced a vampire. A vampire that I couldn't kill… the first one. Ever.
Flashback
I grunted as I was thrown carelessly to the ground. He was strong, stronger than the rest. I had tried to sneak up on him, now I knew that that wasn't the best way to approach the situation…But that was what I usually did…and it had always worked before. I mentally kicked myself for underestimating him.
I was up before he could even blink, "bastard" I muttered under my breath. But with his inhuman hearing, he heard me, he smirked letting his fangs rest on his bottom lip. I chose this as my chance to bring my arm up and knock that stupid smirk off his face. It didn't seem to cause him any pain, it just seemed to make him angry.
"Bitch"
"Why thank you, I've always thought so." I smirked at him. "Come on, is that all you got, now that's just pathetic." I smirked at him, holding my stake in the ready position.
He shrugged, and didn't answer. I glared at him. And went in for the kill, tired of talking to this bastard who deserved to die. I threw the stake at him, using a tactic that had always worked. He grabbed it, with his too fast reflexes.
"It's not that easy slayer." he growled throwing down the stake, which broke under the force, marching towards me, I rolled my eyes, "idiot." I muttered.
"I know that, I wasn't born yesterday." I said as he came upon me, we were mere inches apart. I grabbed for my other stake that was tucked under my shirt on my belt. "Mother did always did tell me, to bring an extra stake, 'cause some are stronger than others."
"Your mother's dead, slayer."
"How do you know that?"
"I have my ways."
"Whatever, you know I would really like to stay and chat, but I really must kill you now…" I trailed off as I attempted to stab him in the heart. He yet again grabbed my hand and pulled the stake out of my hand and carelessly threw it on the ground. It yet again broke under the impact.
"Yet again slayer, it's not that easy…" he muttered and before I even knew what had happened he had me pinned up to the nearest wall. I growled. He merely raised an eyebrow.
He brushed his lips up against mine, "Until we meet again…" he said looking straight into my eyes before he disappeared.
End Flashback
I made my way up to my Aunt's bedroom, I lived with my Aunt because my parents were dead, they were killed by vampires almost ten years ago. The only reason that I'm alive to tell my tale is because my mother placed a protective shield around me that was so strong, it was able to protect me even after she had died. They both died a most painful gruesome death, that I refuse to repeat to anyone. No one except me (and the killer themselves) knows how my mother and father died.
I was shipped off to my Aunt, at the naïve age of six, not knowing where my parents were. Having no clue what was going on, and having no comprehension of what was happening all around me. Now don't get me wrong I loved my Aunt very much. But to suddenly have my parents ripped from me and to be forced to live with another relative was very difficult and hard for me to get use to. I remember the first couple of weeks were hell for both of us. I stayed in my new room and refused to come out. I realize now that that was my way I hiding the pain, maybe if I stayed in there long enough, time would reverse itself and my parents would come back to me. But that never happened. I was just too busy getting over the pain of losing both my parents to cold-blooded killers to realize the stupidity of my actions.
When I was eight, I finally told my story. It was difficult but I had no choice, the nightmares were getting unbearable. Seeing my mother's violet eyes staring lifelessly at me. While in the background I heard an evil laugh. I often woke up in a cold sweat breathing hard. Terrified out of my mind.
My Aunt was in her room sound asleep, maybe the things that I had been sensing before were just my imagination stupid imagination, I'm just tired I thought as I sighed in relief seeing my Aunt safe in bed. I headed towards my own room where I changed into my pajamas, and crawled in to bed, too tired to brush my teeth. If I was more awake I probably would have noticed the pair of dark brown eyes staring at me through the sliver of window that was not covered by the curtains. Unknowing to me those eyes belonged to the most dangerous vampire, who wanted nothing more than me dead.
I yawned as my alarm knocked me out of my slumber. I jerked awake suddenly and shielded my eyes from the sun, that was now shining in my face from my window across from the bed. I groaned as I got out of bed. It was only 7:00. But I had hardly gotten any sleep that night, mainly because I hadn't gotten into bed until 3 o'clock, but that wasn't the point.
I got out of the bed reluctantly and made my way into my adjoining bathroom. I emerged twenty minutes later steam billowing out behind me, a towel wrapped around my wet hair and only a bra and underwear on my still semi- wet body. I shuddered at the coldness of my bedroom, compared to the warmth of the bathroom.
I made my way to my closet and after rummaging around for awhile I found a pair of unworn hip-hugger jeans and a low cut white blouse. After I had gotten dressed I headed downstairs for breakfast.
"Hey, Alana, sleep well?" my Aunt asked from the stove.
"Yea, just fine." I mumbled.
"Great, that's a surprise, I tried waiting up for you…"
"Oh it's not big deal…" I stated, knowing Aunt Kat well, I had expected this to happen.
"What time did you come home anyway?" she asked me curiously, placing a plate of steaming hot pancakes in front of me.
"Around three…"
"Alana! That's not like you to stay out that late. What held you up?" Aunt Kat sounded concerned. It was very lucky that Aunt Kat knew of what I was, hell she was the one who had trained me! Trained me to protect the human race from the leeches of the night. Trained me to keep the vampire population under control. But most of all she trained me so that one day I could find the one who had mercilessly murdered my parents, and get the revenge that I had been wanting for the past ten years….
I shrugged, "I got held up."
"By a vampire no doubt?"
"Yea…"
"Well, what happened?" Aunt Kat asked me.
"I couldn't kill him." I said sadly, afraid to admit it. "And that's, not even the worst part… he kissed me!" I shuddered at the memory, that was the first time I ever remembered being kissed by a vampire, well it wasn't really a kiss persay, it was sort of just a brushing of some sort. But it still gave me shivers, thinking about it.
Never once had I ever been scared of any vampire, but this one was different, very different. That was evident in also the fact that he was the only vampire who had escaped my grasp unharmed.
"Alana, you better finish, if you want to get to school on time, you know how traffic is at this time of the morning." Aunt Kat's voice broke into my thoughts.
"Yea, I know." I said as I got up and grabbed my bookbag and my car keys from near the door and headed out for another boring day of school...
School passed, boring as ever, well that was probably because I slept through most of it, but that's not the point.
When I got home, it was passed four in the afternoon, Aunt Kat wasn't home, she was at work, she worked at some Business Firm. I sighed, as I dropped my bookbag on the ground next to the front door. I made my way into the kitchen where I prepared myself my usually after school snack of celery with ranch dressing.
I made my way carefully into the living room and flopped on the couch, putting my plate carefully on the table next to the couch, before I picked up the remote and turned the t.v. on switching it to the afternoon show, Jeopardy. It was my favorite show, and I never missed it.
"What is The Scarlet Letter." I answered the question, I usually knew most of the answers to the questions. I was abnormally smart. I and everyone else knew it.
After Jeopardy I turned the t.v. off and headed up stairs, bookbag in tow, to do my homework. I had two hours to complete the huge pile of homework that my teachers had evilly assigned.
It was almost 11 o'clock at night, I was on watch, and of course there wasn't that much action. And this was usually the peek hour, I thought that I was rather odd. I was just in the middle of debating whether to go home or not. When my thoughts were interrupted,
"So we meet again, slayer." an icy cold voice said from behind me. I whirled around.
"So we do. " I muttered staring him straight in the eyes.
He chuckled at my sudden fighting stance as he stepped out of the shadows, and stepped under the illuminating street light that was a few feet away from me.
"What, may I ask do you find so humorous?" I asked smugly, as I watched him step closer to me.
He merely smirked and ignored my question " What are youdoing anyway? Looking for me, wanting to finish me off?"
"You could say that…"
"Well guess what slayer…"
"What?"
"No slayer that I have ever come upon as been able to 'finish me off'" he smirked at me.
I cocked an eyebrow, "Oh really?" I asked. "I beg to differ."
"And guess what else?"
I rolled my eyes, "What?"
"I've killed them all the same way, and you're going to meet that exact same fate." he threatened and before I even know what had hit me, he had me pinned to the nearest wall. I growled, he merely chuckled, finding this oh so amusing.
Both of his hands were placed firmly on my shoulders. Pinning me firmly to the wall. "But you have yet to realize, thatI happen to be a slayer that has never let a vampire go."
"Ah" he held up a finger, thus letting go of my right shoulder, but he quickly moved his hand to rest on my throat, making it difficult to breathe. I struggled, but the only stake that I had was in my left boot, which I wasn't able to reach at the moment. I was the slayer, damnit I was alwayssuppose to have the upper hand! "Well Ihappen to be the vampire that has never let a slayer go. And you are no different."
"Well, we'll see about that." I was able to get out with some difficulty considering the fact that his hold on my neck was making it hard to breathe and to actually speak, for that matter. I kneed him in the groin, he immediately let go of me and keeled over in pain. Ha works every time I smirked. Accepting victory, far before I should have.
Before I even had a chance to do anything. He had me pinned to the wall, again. With my own stake from my own shoe only inches away from my heart. I wasn't scared; I wasn't scared of pain, or any of that. I figured to die would mean that I would be able to be with my parents, finally.
He must have read my thoughts because he smirked at me "Oh no, I won't kill you, not now. But I will warn you, slayer. Watch your back, I'll be watching you. And when you least expect it. I'll attack. And, I can assure you, that you will not survive our next encounter." he, like last night, brushed his lips against mine before disappearing.
Alright, well that's it, how was it? I know it was a little confusing. Sorry about that, the fight scene sucks I know that too. And this chapter was kinda boring because I had to introduce both of the main characters. Well, until next time, see ya and review!
