This was a short story I wrote for my GCSE original coursework essay a few months back. I got an A for it, which I was well chuffed about, and when I have time I wish to lengthen it and make it a proper story instead of just a few pages. Improvements and ideas would be much appreciated!


I stare ahead of me, into the dark filled night, and inside I grow desperate. The police are to my back, slowly but steadily closing in, and I was exhausted. I hear a shout in the distance, 'She's this way' and I know I should flee, yet I can't. I turn to run, and stop. In front of me, the ghosts of the dead block my passage, and form a non existent barrier. The weight of the dead is deep in my heart, and inside I weep. The police are but metres behind me, and I cannot move. I look at the gun in my hand, and slowly bring it to my head. People say that your life flashes before your eyes before you die, and that is what it just did…
