And they stole away into the night

To share the secret that was their own

The love forbidden unto them;

They dared to cross the line

But only in the night

That would conceal their secret

Did they dare let themselves

Become lost in each others souls

And on that night

The rain did fall

And it mingled with their tears

Together they cried for the love

Which filled their very souls

The love that shone in their eyes,

The love they breathed in every breath.

The illicit love they kept alive

In the still of the night

Together they withstood it all

Together under the stars

They were one and the same

Together in each others arms

They could rule the world

But alas, the sun did rise

And no longer could it last

The rays melted their bond

And they ceased to be one

As a new day dawned,

They were strangers

Roaming the same land

As dawn cracked

And dusk was gone

They were just pieces

Of something much, much more

Known only to the night
