Almost two weeks later, on June 30th, Kennedy and Loran boarded a plane heading to Los Angeles International Airport. This would be the first time in two years Loran would be back in the states. Kennedy flew back periodically but Loran always stayed home, partly from her fear of flights and also from not wanting to go back to LA. Before entering the terminal Loran took a deep breath and then pushed herself forward.

The whole flight Loran didn't take her seat belt off once, except to go to the bathroom once, and gripped her arm rest so hard her knuckles turned white. Kennedy made fun of her most of the flight which helped Loran take her mind off the fact the were they were thousands of feet in the air in what was the equivalent to a car.

When they arrived in LA Loran almost dropped to her knees and kissed the ground, but didn't because there was a group of really hot guys a few feet away. They were four of them, each of them very tall and incredibly good looking. Kennedy spotted them and immediately walked over and Loran followed.

"Where are you four from?" Kennedy asked batting her big blue eyes. Kennedy had the most beautiful hair Loran had even seen. It was red, bright red, not to orange and not to brown. She had fair skin and big blue doe eyes that she used to get away with anything. Loran looked more like a surfer girl which she tried to get away from. She had long blonde hair, big blue eyes that were different than Kennedy's, and tan skin that was always tan even without sun. Both girls knew how to use their looks.

"Texas," they answered but even if they had lied their accents gave them away.

"First time in California?" Kennedy asked.

"Not for me," the tallest and cutest answered. "I actually live here but my brothers and friend just came for Texas to see me."

"Who's the friend and who are your brothers?" Kennedy asked. They introduced themselves as Charlie, Billy, John, and Chris. Charlie, Billy, and John were brothers.

"I'm Kennedy," Kennedy extended her hand for each of them to shake.

"Loran," Loran said following suite. Kennedy and Loran went to baggage claim and the boys followed and they continued to chat. At baggage claim the boys offered to take their bags for them to a taxi and Kennedy took all their phone numbers knowing she probably wouldn't call them.

"Bye," Kennedy said waving over her shoulder and Loran did the same. "That was fun."

"They were cute, I didn't know Texas made cute boys," Loran laughed.

"Look at Matthew Mcconaughey," they both laughed and their taxi driver looked at them funny thought the rearview mirror.

"Have you noticed the taxi driver has been staring at us the whole way," Kennedy whispered into Loran's ear about ten minutes into the drive.

"Yeah kind of I didn't really notice," Loran said because she had been staring out the window. Everything was so familiar and already Loran had seen two things that made her almost nauseous. The first was the restaurant Chris had taken her too and the second was where he asked her to marry him. Kennedy reached over and gave Loran a comforting touch knowing the memories swirling inside her head. Kennedy couldn't imagine how it hurt her. Chris Greengo had left Loran standing at the altar while he was on his way to Vegas with Natalie Humbert, Loran's arch enemy all through high school. They had both been 18 at the time and Kennedy had been secretly relieved when he had left her because they both knew deep down Loran wasn't ready to get married.

"Watch the road!" Kennedy yelled as the driver almost hit a curb turning. "The road is more important to watch than us!"

"Sorry," he said not looking at them.

"Thinking?" Kennedy asked as Loran continued to stare out the window.

"I've already seen two places that remind me of him," Loran said. "I mean I really should get over it. It has been four years and it's not like I think of him everyday. I have a life."

"Yeah but you haven't been back in awhile," Kennedy assured her. "Memories are bound to resurface."

"Yeah but," Loran trailed off not wanting to feel like a fragile little girl who needed a man to make her feel complete. That wasn't who she was, well not after Chris. All her high school years Loran and Chris had been together, even if they were on a break, they still were always together. Loran had believed she spend her whole life with him until July 21st, almost four years ago.

Another fifteen minutes and they were pulling up the long driveway that led to Kennedy's house. Kennedy and Loran called it a house but most people would call it a mansion. The towering, over 12,000 sq ft house with six bedrooms and 8 baths. It was a Spanish villa style home with white stucco walls and a tile rood. The pool was the largest Loran or Kennedy had ever seen. It was huge, it had to have been over 700 sq ft of swimming space including the gigantic spa that would seat twenty. Also in the pool was a sitting area that the top was over the water but the rest was submerge with a bridge going to so the people sitting in it were at water level but wouldn't get wet.

"Suzanne and Bob are on an Africa safari," Kennedy said referring to her parents. As far back as Loran could remember Kennedy had called her parents by their first names. Loran's mom swears that Suzanne would tell her pregnant stomach that she was Suzanne not mommy.

"Again?" Loran asked.

"Yeah they loved it last time," Kennedy said over her shoulder as she unlocked the front door. As a young kid Loran had been scared of coming into Kennedy's house through their twelve foot door that was rounded on the top.

Kennedy and Loran walked up the grand staircase and down the hall to the right which led to Kennedy's wing of the house. Kennedy was the only child so she had all three bedrooms which were in the same area. One had always been Kennedy's bedroom which was still decorated the way Kennedy had left it, a black comforter with the outline of roses in a darker black velvet and red walls.

"It's so dark," Kennedy laughed. Everything in the room was elegant and dark which was a great contrast compared to her room now which as done in hot pinks and lime greens. One of the other rooms was a guest room done in a Mediterranean style. The bed was low to the ground and there were four big, brass colored chandleries, and purple walls. The last room had gone from Kennedy's play room, to her fashion room, to everything else and was now simply an office.

Loran plopped her suitcases down in Kennedy's guest room. Her house was only down the street, and she would be going there tonight for dinner, but she wanted to stay with Kennedy, although her mom had been against it. They unpacked a little then got changed into their bathing suits. It was about two in the afternoon and they still had three hours to kill before they walked down to Loran's house.

Loran loved Kennedy's pool. It was an infinity pool that looked over an amazing view of the LA area. Even though it was so huge, Kennedy's family paid a fortune to keep it at the perfect temperature all year long. Loran did a few laps while Kennedy tried to tan knowing that it never work.

"You're so lucky," she yelled.

"Why?" Loran asked yelling back while swimming over to where Kennedy was.

"You haven't been outside England in two years and yet you have a tan like you spent everyday at the beach," Kennedy whined. Loran splashed her then swam away while Kennedy yelled at her.
