From A Distance by writerforever

You and me, we used to be the best of friends

We were like brothers

But as time went on we grew apart

Now you are a complete stranger to me

From a distance I watched as your parents divorced

From a distance I watched as you tried to go on with your life

From a distance I truly do see the pain you go through

From a distance I see you as you inhale the drug to escape your heartache

From a distance I cry for you

From a distance I pray for you

From a distance I always stand

For I am afraid, afraid of facing you

Afraid of the hard and cold reality of what has happened to you

From a distance you look like the best friend I once knew

But up close I see the troubled and heartbroken person you are now

And I am afraid for you

From a distance I watch you in sadness

From a distance I stand, waiting

Waiting for that day when I will hear of your overdose

And the end of your life

From a distance I stand, searching for words to say to you

But courage, nor words, come to me

And I will always be standing. . .

From a distance, crying, praying, and. . .waiting. . .
