The Eagle

There she flies,

the very picture of freedom and grace.

The symbol of many countries.

The most majestic of creatures.

The honored form of the eagle.

She sails on the tides of the sky

And looks down to the world so far below.

But before long, she must come back down to earth.

Give up her freedom.

Give up her dreams.

Find a mate. Raise children

But her children will not stay forever.

She will one day teach them to fly.

They will use the gifts she gave them

To leave her forever.

Just as she did to her mother.

And they will sail the sky

As free as their mother once was.

And the wheel turns.
