Can't Escape

Branches slash
At pale, exposed skin.
Tears escape,
Staining her cheeks
As her purity soon will be.
She's held down,
Unable to escape
From what will soon be
Her permanent reality,
And from what is now
The present.

"No," she cries weakly,
But it's too late,
And as her innocence is torn away,
She wonders--
What made her the different one?
