MIRROR

I looked in the mirror today.
You have made me old.

I said that to my lover.
I blamed him -
Because we loved too much.
Now I look beyond the rim
Faced away from that mirror.

I looked in the mirror today.
You have made me old.

Standing near the edge of the void
On the wrong side of the world
I often wonder.
Who is the child,
And who the mother.

I looked in the mirror today.
You have made me old.

If I had one wish,
I'd wish to spare the child
The pain that comes with love.
But the child will learn one day
That truth is worth the price.

I looked in the mirror today.
I looked away.

I looked up to the stars,
And the same moon you see.
Old is just the outside,
Inside, the ageless spirit.
Your mirrored image - me.

I smashed the mirror today.
The heart, the soul - be free.
