Eyes

Have you ever noticed

That when you look into a child's eye

You see something different?

When you look into the eyes of a child

You see happiness

And you also see all the mistakes they have learned from

You see their eagerness to make their parents happy

And their disappointment when they don't

They are so naïve

They know nothing about peer pressure

Heartache or rape

Neither do they know anything about drugs, sex or violence

Now look into the eyes of a teenager

Do you see the difference?

I do!

When you look into the eyes of a teenager

You see all their sorrow and pain

You see all the things they've seen

That they shouldn't have seen

You see all the things that they've done

That they shouldn't have done

You see all the times they gave in

When they should have held strong

They know this world

Everyday they see it

With their own two eyes

When you look into the eyes of a child

You see their happiness

But when you look into the eyes of a teenager

You see all their sorrow and pain
