Chapter Twenty-Seven: Our Work of Art
Sunday morning felt like a dream. I woke to smooth hands rolling across the small of my back, heating blazing off on to my cool skin. I let out a sigh of contempt as I slowly opened my eyes. Jason was smiling up at me from where he laid underneath me. "Morning," he grinned, tucking a stray hair behind my ear.
"You're still here," I smiled, resting my head back down on his chest.
He chuckled. "I confess, I tried to leave, but Brad stopped me before I could."
"Good."
"I had a good reason though, I swear." I lifted my head and looked down at him. "I was gonna get you pancakes, from the truck stop," he smiled.
I raised an eyebrow questioningly.
"I swear. I know how much you like them, so I was get us some. I wanted to surprise you," he answered.
"So how did Brad stop you?"
"He was sitting in the kitchen drinking coffee and reading the paper or something and saw me when I was trying to sneak out the front door. He had this whole Bradley Parker voice and everything," he laughed, rubbing my sides. "He was like, 'Mitchels.' Just like that, one word and I had to stop. I tried to be all innocent so I poked my head in the kitchen. I was like 'Yeah?' and he was just like, 'Go back to bed, now.' I was just like, 'Yes Sir,' and ran up the stairs like a little kid getting scolded for eating too much candy," he laughed.
I found myself laughing hysterically at Jason's reenactment of his encounter with my brother. I could just picture Brad doing exactly what Jason said. I shook my head and sighed, smiling and resting my head back on his chest. "That's hilarious."
"No, even better, I got up again to go take a piss and he stood outside the door the entire time making sure I wouldn't leave. I tried explaining about the pancakes, but he didn't care and said I could take you there later or something," he chuckled.
I laughed. "I can't believe he stood outside while you pissed…that's messed up."
"No, that's one over protective mother fucker! Once I got out of the bathroom he was like, 'Now get in that room and I don't want to see your face again until Melissa is with you,'" Jason laughed.
I started laughing hysterically again, tears forming in my eyes. I had to roll off him and burry my head in the pillows to stifle my laughter. "That's great!" I yelled, the pillow muffling it.
I finally stopped laughing and pulled a deep breath as Jason wrapped his arms around me again. "You're brother really cares about you Liss," he smiled softly, kissing my forehead.
I grinned and closed my eyes, enjoying the closeness with Jason. "So what's the deal with us now?" I asked, slowly opening my eyes to search his.
"What do you mean?" he asked, moving a stray hair out of my eyes. "You're my girl, remember?" he asked.
I grinned and nodded, "I just wanted to hear it again."
He chuckled kissed me quickly before pulling away. "Now come on. I'm hungry and your brother won't let me out of this room until you're with me."
I laughed and nodded, "Get my pants."
He climbed out of bed and bent down to pick up my skirt from the night before. He picked it up and grinned.
"Haha, no. PJ pants please," I smiled.
"Oh COME ON! You looked so hot last night!" he argued.
I grinned, "I know, but I want comfy pants."
"I'll give you comfy pants," he grinned, throwing my skirt on the floor before jumping on top of me and tickling me ruthlessly.
I shrieked with laughter and struggled to get away from him. "Jason!" I squealed, as I tried to grab his hands. "Please! Stop!" I panted.
"Now why would I do that?" he chuckled, attacking my sides.
"I'll do anything!" I yelled, struggling to breathe. "Just please stop, I can't breath."
"Anything, eh?" he asked, stopping his movements, his hands still on my waist. A smirk covered his lips as he stared down at me.
I sighed, realizing what I set myself up for, but nodded anyway. "Anything."
His smirk turned into a grin. "Excellent. Massage. Tonight. Hot tub," he grinned.
I smiled and nodded, "Fine. Can we go eat now?" I asked feeling my tummy rumbled.
"Yes Ma'am," he saluted before rolling off of me and climbing off the bed.
In the kitchen Brad was sitting at the breakfast bar, sipping coffee and read the morning paper just as I imagined. He looked up over his mug, raising an eyebrow as we walked in hand in hand. "We're officially together," I stated as he took a sip of his coffee.
He swallowed and smiled, setting his mug on the counter. "Took you long enough," he grinned as we walked past him toward the fridge.
"So what's the deal with this morning?" I asked, smiling as I opened the fried.
Brad and Jason chuckled. "I couldn't let him just leave like always. I had no idea what was going on with you two. I had to drag him back to your room and watch him like a hawk," Brad said.
I grinned, shaking my head and pulled out the milk. Jason let go of my hand and took a seat at the kitchen table in the corner. I poured the three of us milk while Brad stood up to start cooking breakfast. Soon everyone was up and the kitchen was bustling with noise and movement of Brad cooking pancakes and my brothers interrogated Jason and I.
"You look gorgeous," I whispered in awe, staring at the thirty-three year old woman in front of me. She had long wavy black hair that she hand professionally pulled up into and extravagant up-do with ringlets framing her flawless face.
"You really think so?" my Aunt Kathy asked, staring scrutinizing into the tri-fold mirror.
"Yes, you're gonna knock him off his feet," I beamed as I up the finishing touches on her three foot veil.
"I hope so," she smiled. "Thanks for being my Maid of Honor," she smiled.
I grinned, "Thanks for asking. Its an honor," I smiled.
She grinned and looked at herself once more.
"Come on, its time," I grinned.
She smiled and nodded before turning away from the mirror. The music started outside and I rushed out of the room. Jason was standing at the back of the church with the rest of the groom's men and bride's maids. He grinned when I reached him, holding out his arm for me to take.
I took it and grinned at my brothers standing around with their dates or in Brad's case, his fiancé. Stephanie looked stunning in her lavender brides maid dress. Her long blonde hair trickled in soft curls down her back; her blue eyes shinning in the sunlight.
Jake and Nessa stood next to them, both looking stunning and happy to be together. They had started dating shortly after Jason and I, and Jake had never seemed happier. Chris was his ex-girlfriend Melissa for the day, both only doing it because they had to. Kevin had started dating Mike's friend, Cecily about two weeks ago. I was still unsure on how I felt about her. Tyler and Joy were looking happy as they stood with us.
I glanced down at the little blonde headed Carley, who was the flower girl. She was the best mans daughter. A moment later the best man and the rest of the brides maids and grooms men came walking over. We all smiled and exchange quiet greetings as the wedding march music started and Carley started her way down isle with the ring barer, Brandon.
Jason grinned down at me before we slowly followed, leading the pack of us down the isle. At the alter, we separated, guys to stand next to James, the groom, and girls to follow me, waiting patiently for Aunt Kathy. There was a collective gasp of the crowd when Kathy started walking down the isle. Many murmurs of "She's so beautiful," could be heard throughout the room.
"She looks so calm, how is that possible?" Nessa whispered next to me.
I just grinned. "She's a Parker of course."
THE END!
Wow…its over…I'm so sad. I never wanted this to end…not at all. I love Melissa…she's my girl. And The Parkers…they're like my family, I don't know what I'll do without them…WHICH IS WHY…I'm AM doing a sequel….maybe even a trilogy. So BRING ON JAKE PARKER!!

I never thought so many people would like it when I started it…I just wanted to get it out of my head since I had been thinking about it for almost two years.
So everyone that reviewed, thank you so much. I hope you liked this story as much as I enjoyed writing it.
And as for Impractical Misgivings… look for that also in a couple of days or so… Check my bio for summaries.
