Chapter 1: Introduction to Thomas
16 year-old Katrina was sitting out in the morning sun, working on one of her sketches. She let go of her sketch book and put her shining medium brown hair up in a ponytail. She was the quiet, sweet type. She glanced up and saw her three best friends coming towards her. What are they doing? She wondered and put her sketch book away. She glanced at the house across the street from her and saw a red truck pull into Mr. and Mrs. Sandler's yard. Who is that? She wondered. He got out of the car, He was about 6'4, pitch black spiked hair, his eyebrow and right ear were pierced, and when he looked over at her, she saw he had the most beautiful blue eyes she had ever seen.
"Hey Katrina!" All three of her friends said.
"Hey, what's up? Who is that guy across the street?" Katrina asked watching him until he went inside the house.
"Well, you moved here a year so, you wouldn't know who we were talking about but, I'll tell you." Mike said.
"He is terrible horrible!" Rachel said.
"Ok Mike, I'll tell her, his name is Thomas, he's 19 and he was sent away to a correctional prison six years ago." Tyler said.
"For what?" Katrina asked alarmed.
"Murder!" Rachel said.
"What?" Katrina said.
"Ok, Thomas was the neighborhood bad kid especially in the woods around here, he would skin cats and dogs for the fun of it, take people's things, once even lit the forest on fire." Mike said.
"Yes, then, someone's child died." Rachel said.
"They blamed Thomas and sent him off." Tyler said.
"Oh, no proof?"
"No, but everyone was sure of it, now he's back!" Rachel said.
"Why?" Katrina asked. Why would he do something like that at 13? This is just weird, she sighed.
"As you know, Mrs. Sandler has cancer and she wanted her son back so, they let him go." Mike said sadly.
"Now he's back and will do who knows what!" Rachel said panicking.
"Clam down, maybe he has changed."
"No, you don't know Thomas, he will never change!" Mike said.
"Well, I'm going to make Mrs. Sandler some cookies for her birthday and go over and see if he really is mean." Katrina said getting up.
"No, he will kill you!" Rachel cried out.
"Calm down, I'll be fine. Besides, it's her birthday!" Katrina walked into her house and went into her kitchen. Thomas is kind-of cute. Wait, what am I saying, mom would kill me for liking a guy like that, she thought as she made the cookies. As they were baking, she went upstairs and instead of her shorts and top she was wearing, she put on a blouse and flowered skirt. Every time she went to someone's house, she dressed as conservative and nice as possible. She got the cookies out of the oven, placed them on a plate, and went outside. The red truck is still there, she thought as she took a deep breath. She walked across the street and knocked on the door. Mr. Sandler opened the door.
"Well hello Katrina, what are you doing here?" Mr. Sandler asked smiling. She always came to see them and always made Mrs. Sandler cakes and cookies.
"I brought Mrs. Sandler some cookies." Katrina said smiling.
"Well come in, come in!" Mr. Sandler said. There in the living room was Mrs. Sandler and Thomas.
"Well hello dear what brings you to see an old woman like me? Mrs. Sandler asked.
"I made you cookies." Katrina said giving them to her.
"What a wonderful birthday surprise, Anna, this is my son, Thomas. Thomas, this is our nice neighbor Anna.
"Nice to meet you Anna," he said with a smirk smile. He got up and offered his hand. She shook it and smiled.
"Nice to meet you to Thomas." She said.
"Why don't you stay and have cake with us?" Mr. Sandler asked.
"No really, I shouldn't." Katrina said.
"Come on, please." Mrs. Sandler asked.
"Well, I guess I could stay." She said. Yes! She thought and sat down.
"Well, I had better go mow the yard and then, I'll have cake with you guys." Mr. Sandler left.
"Well, why don't you to sit here and I'll go fix the cake?" Mrs. Sandler said and left. She looked over at Thomas and he was smiling a smile, an evil smile...
