It was once upon a time they said
Though their memory fades away
And though they may be since long dead
Their legend lives on to this day

In a mystical realm where dragons dwell
With leprechauns and fairies
Protected by a king with an iron fist
This magic world still tarries

The sun is bright, the sky is blue
The birds fly strait the bears roam free
The moon shines brightly clear and new
Above the leafy canopy

The Isle of Light they called this place
Truthfully and rightly so
No evil dared to show his face
For fear of sharp and painful blow

Then one dark a pirate came
And landed on their peaceful shore
Edgar Black the very same
Poised for peril, set for war

Edgar and his restless crew
Stormed the stalwart castle's gate
Prince Michael was too far away
The prince returned, but much too late

They made their way through the chamber door
Through the hall they went a creeping
They captured the king while in his bed
While he still was sleeping

The news it spread throughout the land
The truth was painfully clear
Under Edgar's ruthless hand
The Isle of Light was filled with fear

Then when hope was all but lost
Four brave warriors came forth
Willing to fight whatever the cost
To battle Edgar in the north

There was Michael the brave from the north
Courageous and good with a sword
The eldest son of the king
Willing to fight King Edgar's horde

There was Emily the beautiful
Coming from the east
Quick and deadly with a bow
Dead accurate to say the least

James the valiant from the west
In the face of danger he never quit
His skill with a spear is unsurpassed
Equaled only by his wit

From the south came Stephen the Strong
His might unmatched, his foes no more
His mace was known throughout the land
Seasoned in the arts of war

The four of them met at Cape Badger
A village far to the south
They met in a cave by the waterside
Near the river's mouth

They were confident in victory
But that was not the case
Before they could face Edgar
There were challenges they had to face

The next day they started off
Each upon a separate steed
Each one secretly hoping
That they'd receive honor when the king was freed

But no sooner had they started
Then a problem did arise
"Who will be our leader?"
yelled the four in angry cries

It should be me the brave Michael said
Yes, I should be the one
No one can beat me in a fight
For I am the King's own son

I should be the leader
Said Emily with pride
For I am deadly with a bow
Fleet of foot and swift of stride

"It should be me," Steven said
For I am very strong
Without me and my strength I fear
You won't last very long

"You may be strong", James said at length,
"But while your strength it wanes
I won't be any weaker
For I'm the one with brains"

But James came up with an answer
So they would have to fight no more
So simple they wondered why
They hadn't thought of it before

They all drew straws for leader
For the fight was looking grim
And Michael's straw, it came up short
There was no arguing with him

They went on day and night
Hardly stopping to sleep
Hindered not by jagged mountains,
Oceans wide, or canyons deep.
