Holy Bible, Presented: 1909
I've never seen a book so beautiful
It's old--ancient even
The fabric on the cover is frayed
The gold embossed title is faded
Along with the gold lining the pages
That is giving way to red,
The color of the Gospel
And the hymnals and pews I grew up in
The tattered edges shake
When I hold it with one hand
But inside--the words
The words on the pages have not lost
Their vitality or grown senile
With the yellowing of paper
They're still alive and clear
Ringing through past and present,
Ringing in my soul
Notes that will never fade
Away, no matter how old
Or ancient.
I've never seen a book so beautiful.
