"A Breath of Fresh Rain"
E.M. Hunton

Trying to breath, to move, to escape
wanting to be consumed
And each breath
slips through my lips
leaving me thirsty
for real air

swirling downward so that
I can come up again
Rays of sunlight
glistening through
And lightning
lighting up the sky
followed by
claps of thunder

Raindrops falling on me
soaking me, drenching me
But I can't feel them
as I watch them slide down my arms
and rest on my eyelashes
I can't feel them
But feelings don't matter
Because its raining
